Thoughts on Ted?

Will put Edward on the birth certificate as a full version. But what do people think of Ted? I don’t hear about much nowadays, but it seems perfectly fine to me. Thanks Smile

I like Edward, but not Ted.

BaseDrops · 17/07/2020 15:06

I can’t believe no one has said
EXCELLENT.

Thoughts on Ted?
MikeUniformMike · 17/07/2020 15:00

Ned is awful.
Teddy is very popular. I prefer Ed/Eddy.

MerryDeath · 17/07/2020 14:48

Teddy very common around here in babies so common in older kids soon!

123Dancewithme · 17/07/2020 14:45

It’s really popular, I know lots of little Teds. Edward is nice though.

BeMorePacific · 17/07/2020 12:30

I love the name Ted.
I think it suits all ages too x

Patrick1988 · 17/07/2020 11:20

@MintyJones I know, I was responding to a your first message before Laura came on here, as this thread is not about the name Teddy.

I agree with you though that people don’t really make comments based on names anyway - there are Frankie’s, Freddie’s, Alfie’s etc I know and none of them get picked on for having what people see as a “cutesy” name.

Love Edward, Ted, Teddy!
Love Theodore, Theo too. ❤️

MintyJones · 17/07/2020 09:58

@Patrick1988 I was aiming my comments at Laura in response to her last message Smile

Sunbird24 · 17/07/2020 09:14

I love it OP, lost a family member yesterday who was Edward but always called Ted.

Patrick1988 · 17/07/2020 09:07

@MintyJones I’m not intending to call him Teddy anyway, just Ted. Hence why the thread has just Ted mentioned in the title and description.

@laura0390 it gets so boring to read the same old stuff on here regarding the name Teddy. My favourite ever was ' your lawyer is called Edward and your plumber is called Teddy' Grin

I called my Ted Teddy way back when it just wasn't considered a proper name! I read on here about how kids will take the piss and call him Teddy Bear )only i do this!) or bully him for having a baby name - just not true. Not once. He just suits his name and he's the only one in a school of 1800 pupils.

And having typed that I'm off to turf Teddy out of bed. Congrats on giving your son an awesome name

laura0390 · 17/07/2020 04:00

@MintyJones I'm really pleased to hear this. My little boy is just Teddy on his bc too. I don't think it's twee.

MintyJones · 17/07/2020 00:20

I have a 14 year old Teddy. Not Edward , not Edmond, he's Teddy on his birth certificate.

People 'become' their names. You don't need to worry about a hulking teenager called Teddy and being all cutesy as his mates rip the piss pot of him. On 14 years, my Teddy has never once had any comment passed on his name by another child or adult. His name suits him just fine and he likes it. He calls himself both Teddy and Ted

DramaAlpaca · 17/07/2020 00:17

Ted's OK. Way better than the twee Teddy.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 17/07/2020 00:13

Love Edward, Ted and Teddy 🥰 Also glad you'll put Edward on the birth certificate 🥰

(Edward was my first choice for DC1)

Patrick1988 · 17/07/2020 00:11

@sunrainwind I would agree Teddy is twee because of the “y” ending. However I think Ted is quite strong but not too harsh, so I would have to disagree on it being twee.

OP posts:
Patrick1988 · 17/07/2020 00:08

@thetrolleywitch not only that - Edward would give more diminutive options (Ed, Eddie, Ned).

OP posts:
sunrainwind · 16/07/2020 23:41

I know a lot of Edwards shortened to Teddy (around 6 under 5s) but not as many Teds. In my opinion Ted is better than Teddy but it's still twee and I'm not a fan.

Mrstwiddle · 16/07/2020 23:37

It’s nice :)

laura0390 · 16/07/2020 23:35

My little boy is Teddy so I'm biased but I love it!

lakesidesummer · 16/07/2020 23:10

I like it and find it is easy to use for the DC.
It is growing in popularity now if that bothers you.

PlantPotting · 16/07/2020 23:02

Lovely name

AdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2020 22:43

My DGP was Ted. I love it, but it is getting very common here (primary teacher, SW).

BaronessBomburst · 16/07/2020 22:40

Ted and Teddy are both fine. Go for it!
