Sorry for the second post about a baby boy name!
So... twins are due imminently - a boy and a girl.
Girl will be named Clara Florence Rae but we’ve been stuck on a name for our boy.

We both quite like Kai Alexander Michael.

Surname begins with V and is 3 syllables.

We would like the babies to have 2 middle names to honour family members on both sides.

Is the name too chavvy? Does it go with Clara?

We did like Rowan for a boy but that has become more a girl’s name and also Roman is too popular so we vetoed it!
I liked Kit but DH hates it!

We can’t have any names beginning with T, D, H, B, I, N or U as initials TV/DV/BV/HV/IV/NV/UV aren’t great!

Names we vetoed

George
Oscar
Oliver
James
Jaxon
Mason
Adam
Mark
Charlie
Christopher
Elliott
Finn
Finley
Lewis
Lucas
Quinn
Rowan

Really stuck and only a few weeks to go!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I agree with @flooredbored. I don't see an issue with those initials. For all you know, in a few years time the initials KV might be an acronym for something much worse!

PlantPotting · 16/07/2020 19:18

How about Matthew? Very underused these days

Instead of Kai- how about Kasper

AnotherBiteMe · 16/07/2020 19:12

Joel
Aiden
Craig
Jacob
Samuel
Tobias

daisypond · 16/07/2020 18:55

Harvey?

BobFleming · 16/07/2020 18:51

Kai is very, very bad. It might just be MN's Worst Name Ever.

PlantPotting · 16/07/2020 18:48

Blake?

PlantPotting · 16/07/2020 18:48

Paul is such a lovely name and definitely due a revival. You'll be ahead of the curve .
It's surely only a matter of time before Peter and Paul come back - theyre lovely gentle but strong names.

flooredbored · 16/07/2020 18:44

As the middle names are quite long, I think a shorter first name would be better. Not keen on Kai.

Carl
Kurt
John
Paul
Scott
Heath
Timothy (Tim)

Personally, I don't think that most of those initials would cause any problems.

daisypond · 16/07/2020 18:44

John? Jack? Luke? Marcus? Cian?

newmum332 · 16/07/2020 18:41

I really don’t think Kai goes with Clara.
I see Clara as a very classic name and Kai is a bit modern and tbh is a bit chavvy where I am.

I do feel your pain though. I had boy/girl twins 3 weeks ago and boys name were SO difficult. We went with Frederick (Freddie). Other names we had on our list were Sebastián, Henry, Arthur and Milo and Luca.

PlantPotting · 16/07/2020 18:38

How about Austin?
I like the suggestion of Miles above. Or Milo. Otto? Griff? Eric? Ellis? I love Ellis.
Bill?
I love Ezra but that may be too popular for you.
My baby daughter is called Rowan and yes it does get mixed up with Roman a lot which I hadn't anticipated and there's 2 Roman's at our small local nursery so she's "Rowan with a W".

Hope you find a boys name you love as much as your lovely girl name! Clara is beautiful. 💐

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 16/07/2020 18:31

Alexander and Clara are lovely names and go well together.

I'm also not a fan of Kai but am rather biased because I have a son called Alexander (known as Alex or sometimes Xander) and if my second child had been a girl I would have definitely have considered Clara

daisypond · 16/07/2020 18:30

Guy is good, as PP suggested. It’s virtually the same but a very different style.
Miles?

Whatsyourflava · 16/07/2020 18:29

Dominic
Casper (I like the idea of two C names but maybe you don't)
Nathan/Nathaniel nn Nate

Whatsyourflava · 16/07/2020 18:28

If you like Alexander what about Huxley or Felix?

daisypond · 16/07/2020 18:28

Kai is a completely different style to Clara. It really doesn’t go.

Whatsyourflava · 16/07/2020 18:27

I think I've read most of these messages - has Micah been discounted?

Clara Florence is really lovely.

For boys
Cooper?
Cole?
Christopher nn Kit (might be a way to get round your husbands dislike of Kit? Use Christopher but call him Kit?)

You'll find names like Peter are really unusual these days- how about that?

Sidney nn Sid?
Laurence nn Laurie?
Barnaby nn Barns?
I agree RoMan is very popular and trendy and I'd avoid.

FourPlasticRings · 16/07/2020 18:25

Clara Florence Rae is incredibly long winded (and Clara is a bit over-done, in my opinion, but maybe that's just around here).

orangejuicer · 16/07/2020 18:22

Michael and Kai becomes Mike-kai, best avoided I think.

Danniiaddy · 16/07/2020 18:19

Thanks for the suggestions. I did think Kai was too modern up against Clara. We don’t agree on anything else - that’s the problem!
We definitely don’t want to use Michael as a first name. I hate the nn Mick and Mike which will be inevitable when he’s older.

Clara’s name was easy. (After my sister Clare)
1st Middle name Florence (MIL middle name)
2nd middle name Rae (my grandad and uncle both called Raymond)

P.S We don’t like Raymond for a first name either!

I like Alexander but DH doesn’t like it as a first name.

Don’t like any of the above suggestions - sorry!

It’s so tricky!!!

BeeyatchPlease · 16/07/2020 18:17

I don't like the name Kai, sorry. It seems chavvy and especially so next to Clara which is a beautiful name.

Clara was on my short list of girls name, but we had a boy. On our short list of boys was:

Samuel
Christian
Benjamin
Sebastian

Apolloanddaphne · 16/07/2020 18:16

Love Clara but really dislike Kai.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 16/07/2020 18:15

I think Clara and Roman is fabulous.
Not keen on Kai personally and I’m not sure it goes with Clara.

HalfBloodPrincess · 16/07/2020 18:14

Love your girls name but I'm not a fan of Kai.

I know its vetoed but I love Clara and Quinn

Clara and Reuben
Clara and Theo
Clara and Elias

Tibtab · 16/07/2020 18:14

Ronan instead of Roman?
