Sorry for the second post about a baby boy name!
So... twins are due imminently - a boy and a girl.
Girl will be named Clara Florence Rae but we’ve been stuck on a name for our boy.

We both quite like Kai Alexander Michael.

Surname begins with V and is 3 syllables.

We would like the babies to have 2 middle names to honour family members on both sides.

Is the name too chavvy? Does it go with Clara?

We did like Rowan for a boy but that has become more a girl’s name and also Roman is too popular so we vetoed it!
I liked Kit but DH hates it!

We can’t have any names beginning with T, D, H, B, I, N or U as initials TV/DV/BV/HV/IV/NV/UV aren’t great!

Names we vetoed

George
Oscar
Oliver
James
Jaxon
Mason
Adam
Mark
Charlie
Christopher
Elliott
Finn
Finley
Lewis
Lucas
Quinn
Rowan

Really stuck and only a few weeks to go!

Love the name Clara and really wanted it for DD but couldn’t persuade other half as he said all he could think about was long distance Clara from Pigeon Street. Bloody loved that programme!

Anyhow, don’t mind Kai but doesn’t fit well with Clara imo. What about:

Jack
Joseph
Zachery
Milo
Arthur
Samuel
Sonny

mathanxiety · 18/07/2020 22:35

I believe that was Kay, not Kai, Orphlids.

FourPlasticRings · 18/07/2020 20:44

TV/DV/BV/HV/IV/NV/UV

So, is that television, domestic violence, bovine(..?), health visitor, intravenous, norovirus, ultraviolet?

I agree with PP, you're overthinking the initials thing.

Orphlids · 18/07/2020 19:01

I know the most fabulous woman with the most gorgeous little boy named Kai. She is educated, intelligent, well-spoken, witty and fun. The little boy is much the same, and one of the kindest little chaps I’ve ever encountered. When I met them, I was a bit surprised by his name, because I would have expected something a bit... er...posher, given her background. Wasn’t Kai the little boy from Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen? Anyway, I didn’t much like the name at first, but I have certainly warmed to it. I do think it sounds quite cool, strong and masculine. I’m surprised by the responses on this thread - one person suggesting Kai is the worst name ever to appear on MN? Hardly.

I wouldn’t worry about if your children’s names “go together”. They’re not a pair of bookends. My children’s names are totally different styles, and I can’t imagine there will be any negative impact from this. We just chose names we loved.

PlantPotting · 18/07/2020 12:09

I'm confused why these initials are bad. Am I missing something:

"We can’t have any names beginning with T, D, H, B, I, N or U as initials TV/DV/BV/HV/IV/NV/UV aren’t great!"

Boris Johnson's initials are BJ. I know people with STD initials. I get that those aren't ideal and I would avoid.
But.....What's wrong with "TV"?

zigaziga · 18/07/2020 11:45

Another person who dislikes the name Kai.

It’s not in the same league as Clara at all. Clara is a beautiful name.

Flappingflamingo · 18/07/2020 11:15

I love your girls name bit agree with most others that kai doesn't go. I don't hate the name, I just don't think it sits well with the other chosen names.
Samuel Alexander michael
Jacob Alexander Michael
Joshua Alexander Michael
Matthew Alexander Michael
Isaac Alexander Michael
James Alexander Michael
Arthur Alexander Michael
Harry Alexander Michael
I also don't understand your reluctance to many of the initials as you have CV and 2 thing instantly sprung to my mind with those, covid and curriculum vitae (sorry spelling is probably wrong but I'm sure you know what I mean)

LilacSloth · 17/07/2020 19:03

I've got a lovely Kai. I know a lot of people don't like it, as you can see on this thread, but I love it.
I also think it's goes quite well with Clara even though they are both different styles.

Grandmi · 17/07/2020 00:02

Laurie/ Laurence? Such a lovely timeless name .

notreallybotheredaboutausernam · 16/07/2020 22:27

I can see why you would avoid the initials BV and DV, but why avoid ones like IV and UV when your girl will have the initials CV?

Cindie943811A · 16/07/2020 21:52

Kain or Kane
Kirk
Konrad
Guy
Leo or Leon
Dirk
Giles

Poppydaisies · 16/07/2020 21:15

Kai is not nice.

Clara and Quinn would be lovely together!

GoGold · 16/07/2020 20:25

Kai sounds mega chavvy. Clara is nice and timeless.

Millie2013 · 16/07/2020 20:05

Echo Jacob :) I think it’s a lovely name

VenusClapTrap · 16/07/2020 20:02

I like the suggestions of Guy and Conrad. How about Gus or Erik?

user1493494961 · 16/07/2020 20:00

Clara is beautiful, Kai isn't, it's a totally different style of name. Alexander is nice and goes well with Clara.

OhTheRoses · 16/07/2020 19:58

Conrad
Magnus
Caspar
John

IckleBear · 16/07/2020 19:57
