What are people’s thoughts on the name George?

I think it's a great name! Love it.

itsme · 15/07/2020 11:09

I have a Georgia who would have been George! I'm Obviously not very creative with names!

bibbitybootwo · 15/07/2020 10:49

Louis.... he was Oscar for 2 days as well. He ended up being Louis Oscar. I obviously like regal names!

@bibbitybootwo

My son was meant to be George, until he was born and I was completely besotted with this gorgeous little bundle and somehow couldn't bring myself to name him such a plain boring name. Felt like he needed something a bit more special, as to me he was the most special person little thing in the world. I still like the name when I hear it just obviously not enough to use it!
What name did you go for in the end?

I’m biased as I have one!

HenSolo · 15/07/2020 07:40

I have a five year old George and he’s the only one in his school so can’t be that common....
My fav name op

Flatteries · 15/07/2020 07:36

It's so common you might as well call your son Male#2457.

sweetnosugar · 15/07/2020 07:31

I think it’s lovely! One of my favourite names.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 15/07/2020 05:06

I'm afraid I do not understand why this name is so popular. I just find it so... meh and it doesn't have a nice sound to it.

AquarianSquirrel · 15/07/2020 03:54

A lovely name.

whiteblue · 15/07/2020 03:29

Nice name. Hugely unimaginative though.

Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou · 15/07/2020 02:43

Boring

Mothership4two · 15/07/2020 02:33

Nice enough but a bit boring

Alongcameacat · 15/07/2020 02:21

I don't like the way it sounds, it doesn't flow in any way. Its clunky and harsh sounding to my ears.

It's clumsy. I don't like it. Also reminds me of Georgie Porgie puddington pie and he wasn't nice. I don't get the popularity but hey, we can't all like the same things!

Justkeeepsmiling · 15/07/2020 00:22

It's OK, not a name that stands out, but maybe that's what you want?

CuppaZa · 15/07/2020 00:15

I like it for a kid, but not for an adult

HeddaGarbled · 15/07/2020 00:11

Very popular at the moment, for obvious reasons.

DramaAlpaca · 15/07/2020 00:09

It's one of the few classic names I really don't like. It's a bit, I don't know, stodgy sounding or something. Nothing actually wrong with it if you like it though.

alexdgr8 · 15/07/2020 00:07

it's a fine name.

ButterfliesandMoths · 14/07/2020 23:38

Love the name George

SpareOom · 14/07/2020 23:32

I think it’s an over-used, podgy kind of name.
