I like Dylan. Could Noa (without the H) be an option?

Alex, Sam, Chris, Charlie I see as boys names - but might suit a certain type of girl if she can pull it off if. These are what spring to mind when you say “boys names for girls”.

The only people I know with these names are 'girls' - they might be shortened versions, as they could be if they were male, but this proves my previous post.

RainbowMum11 · 15/07/2020 02:40

Or Hilary - that's a unisex name, as is Leslie.

RainbowMum11 · 15/07/2020 02:39

A lot of girls names are based on boys (or the other way round!)
Alexandra / Alexander
Georgina / George
Henrietta / Henry
Harriet / Harry
Paula / Paul
Pauline / Paul
Olivia or Olive / Oliver

Etc etc

I like 'boyish' or unisex names for girls. Alex is my favourite but Stevie is also great. I know two women called Jamie, one goes by Jamie and the other Jay. Jude, Finn and Rae could also work.

Freddie? (Fredrica)
Bobbie? (Roberta)
George? (Georgina)
Frankie (Francesca)

The above all give nice boy / girl options. Of your list I like Andie the best, but would go for Andrea officially.

Buttybach · 15/07/2020 00:32

I met a girl named Rowan once and it really suited her

Aquilla is a boys name but suits a girl

Afon

I genuinely didn't know Spencer could be a girls' name. I think Meredith falls into this category and I like it. Of yours I like Andie best. (But none of the femininisations such as Nigella, Kevina etc)

whatausername · 15/07/2020 00:30

Did you not want a girl then?

Buttybach · 15/07/2020 00:29

Grey
Sammy
George

sel2223 · 15/07/2020 00:26

I know little girls called Stevie and Georgie and they are both adorable

DramaAlpaca · 15/07/2020 00:22

@TildaTurnip

I think it is quite unfair to give a girl a name that is knowingly commonly used for boys.
I agree. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's ridiculous.

A genuine unisex name is fine, but appropriating a boys' name for a girl isn't. You wouldn't do it the other way round.

I like Andi from your list.

Enda is one I've heard very rarely for a girl but loads for guys

ttigerlilly · 14/07/2020 23:52

I love Stevie! ❤️

Unisex name suggestions-

Reese
Dakota
Blake
Jamie
Mica

I like Andie and Dylan best. Personally, I would put Andrea on the birth certificate, just to give her the option of a more formal name.

I also like Lennon. I have a name that was always mistaken as a “boy’s” name but I wouldn’t have changed it growing up.

ShyTown · 14/07/2020 23:49

I think they are all quite dated and not at all unusual for a girl if that’s what you’re going for. I know women called all of those, the youngest is called Drew and is in her mid 20s. Andie is a really common nickname for Andrea, I work with a few and they’re all in their 40s or 50s. I’ve know baby girls born recently called Cameron, Billie, Charlie and Rowan - I personally think those names are much nicer.

daisypond · 14/07/2020 23:48

Andie, Drew and Stevie aren’t even proper names for boys or men, let alone a woman. Dylan is a male name, often mispronounced.
Andrea or Stephanie are fine. As is Rowan, Megan, Marian etc.

alexdgr8 · 14/07/2020 23:40

you mean like shirley, beverley, hilary, which were all boys' names originally.

123Dancewithme · 14/07/2020 23:36

My favourites are Morgan, Rowan and Devon. I like Stevie best from your list.

sweetnosugar · 14/07/2020 23:26

I like Bobby and Billie!
Just adding my opinion, hope you don’t mind.

Zelda93 · 14/07/2020 23:08

I love the unisex names and my dd was very nearly called Jamie but we changed our mind at last minute.

clareykb · 14/07/2020 22:53

I like Drew and I do know a female Stevie and an Andie but they are a Stephanie and Andrea so it might be good to have her full name on the BC so she can choose when she is older.
