One my OH loves, one I love.
Which one do you prefer?
Surname begins with a 'M'... puts me off having a first name beginning with M too.

@sibbys

Well considering it’s been around as a name since the 16th century that’s unusual!

You’ve never heard of Maisie Williams (Arya from Game of Thrones)? The TV show Maisie Raine? Any children’s literary or tv character with the name Maisie or Maisy (Maisy the Mouse etc)? It’s really not an unusual name at all.

sibbys · 17/07/2020 13:26

@NameChange84 I've really never heard of it!

pinkpinecone · 16/07/2020 10:25

Rosa is lovely

NameChange84 · 16/07/2020 10:24

@sibbys

How can you not have heard of the name Maisie?!

That’s like saying “is Sophie/Caitlin/Rosie even a name?”

Confused

Both lovely! Sorry not helpful

sibbys · 15/07/2020 20:31

Rosa! Is Maisie even a name?

CaffiSaliMali · 15/07/2020 17:05

I prefer Rosa - it's classy and elegant and as PPs have said, Rosie is a potential nickname which might appeal to your DH.

Rosa is on my non-Welsh girls name list.

The only Maisie I know is a labrador so I see it as more of a pets name.

Enko · 15/07/2020 10:00

rosa is my favourite but I would not bat an eyelid at Maisie its a nice name

Emmmie · 15/07/2020 04:20

Maisie reminds me of corn ( as in modified maise starch)

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/07/2020 00:17

Rosa

MrsEricBana · 15/07/2020 00:13

Rosa absolutely.

Tavannach · 15/07/2020 00:13

Rosa

DramaAlpaca · 15/07/2020 00:11

Rosa by a mile.

Maisie is babyish and twee.

Destroyedpeople · 14/07/2020 23:40

I might be over thinking it but why do fathers want such belittling and babyish names fir their daughters..it's not a name for an adult is it...
Dd's partner also suggested this name for their baby. ..it got vetoed v quickly. ..

HalloumiSalad · 14/07/2020 23:35

Rosa by a country mile! A name a child can make their own, conjures up a beautiful woman with interesting stories. Maisie is meh for me.

123Dancewithme · 14/07/2020 23:31

Rosa is so much nicer!

TempsPerdu · 14/07/2020 20:26

I can’t emphasise enough how much I prefer Rosa to Maisie. It’s strong and classy and elegant and sophisticated vs cutesy, twee and insubstantial as far as I’m concerned!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/07/2020 20:26

Rosa. It's beautiful.

Winifredgoose · 14/07/2020 20:26

100% Rosa. Your husband could call her Rosie as a nick name, which is similar but in my opinion much nicer than Maisie.

daisypond · 14/07/2020 20:24

Rosa. But Rose is nicer.

janetmendoza · 14/07/2020 20:22

Rosa

seriousandloyal · 14/07/2020 20:17

Prefer Rosa xx

9522560a · 14/07/2020 20:13

I know a pair of sisters with these two names! I prefer Rosa.

villainousbroodmare · 14/07/2020 20:08

May is not bad, though.

SociallyDistanced2020 · 14/07/2020 19:48

Rosa. It's my favourite if ever I had a girl.
