All my children have fairly classic but slightly unusual names - all sound a little nineteenth century.

DD1 5yo wishes we had called her Bella-Rubee and names all characters in her games this

DD2 is fine with her name but prefers Madam Hmm

DS 2yo insists on being Bimboink

So go on..... which of your DC don't appreciate the perfect beautiful names you lovingly picked out? Grin

My (50 year old) ds is called Guy. He always wished he was Neil or Stuart.Dd wished she was Harriet.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 14/07/2020 22:30

Metalhead - I hear you. When DD1 is not Bella-Rubee, she is Rubee-Bella.

No offence to any parents of Bella-Rubees.....

My 2yo daughter today told me lovingly that "I think Mummy vulture" and then proceeded to call me Wulcher for the rest of the afternoon.

Bloody ingrates.

My nephew used to want to be called Crab or Ricobox...?????

Metalhead · 14/07/2020 22:07

DD1 who is 10 has gone through phases of wishing she was called Crystal (Hmm), Mia or Olivia.

DD2 has so far not expressed any desire to change her name (she’s 4).

Tiger Shark/Hammerhead Jones

Sloth Jones.

No idea where Jones comes into it but hey.

LiviLoggo · 14/07/2020 18:51

Daughter wishes she was called Eliah Rose - not sure why as she has never complained before!

formerbabe · 13/07/2020 18:18

My ds used to tell me he wished he was called Peter. We went to the park once and he met some random kids and was playing with them. When it was time to leave they shouted 'bye Peter' Grin

My 15yo doesn't mind his name but he asked the other day what other names I liked for him so I told him all the names I suggested that his dad (my ex) said no to, he preferred most of them to the one we compromised on 😁
My husband and I lived the name Ella when I was pregnant with our now 11yo daughter, but realised since my son was called sam, that wouldn't work 😒 we love her name and she does but still occasionally says wistfully I love the name Ella 😔
Love my 10yo daughters name, but at one stage we contemplated Leah, she sometimes says she wishes that's what her name was

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/07/2020 08:33

Dd1 has never complained about her name, but sometimes wishes her middle was her first (Rose)

Dd2 tells me often that I should have called her Tiffany ?!

SnowsInWater · 13/07/2020 01:51

DD wishes I had been brave enough to call her Saoirse. She loves her Irish name but thinks Saoirse is cooler. I think people struggle enough with the name she has 😂

babynamelover · 13/07/2020 01:30

I just asked they said Amy (8 year old) and Ava (almost 6 year old).

So interesting what a great thread 😁

PMTRex · 13/07/2020 00:53

Ds8 "s favourite name is Jeff.

He's suggested it to all of my pregnant friends and anyone buying a new pet.

Sadly they have chosen other names instead.

His second favourite name is Bob.

NotNowPlzz · 13/07/2020 00:46

Laughing so hard at these. Grin

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 12/07/2020 12:49

My DS 6 insists on being referred to as 'Dr Angel Owen O'Dell'

'Dr' and 'O'Dell' both come from watching Topsy and Tim. Angel is because he was miffed he wasn't an angel in last year's nativity. Grin Owen is actually his name, so glad that's stuck!

thaegumathteth · 12/07/2020 12:43

Dd has a lovely Gaelic name. She wishes she was called Maisie or Amelia.

I grew up with a really popular name and deliberately chose an unusual (but easy to spell / pronounce) name for dd. Ah well...

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 12/07/2020 10:09

DS ages 10 dereck
Dd age 7 agent 55

We did go through a Thomas the tank engine phase and all had the name of engines. Dh was the fat controller Grin

MonsteraDeliciosa · 12/07/2020 10:04

When DD1 was little, she insisted that she be called “Spider” 🤔

DD2 was disappointed - at approx age 5 - that she wasn’t named Katy.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/07/2020 09:52

DD1 likes her name

DD2 will henceforth be known as Dave.

emilybrontescorsett · 12/07/2020 09:47

Ds= Ryan
Dd=Chloe

worstwitch18 · 12/07/2020 02:47

Not my son, but a little boy I used to look after called Hugo said he wanted his name to be Boris instead.

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2020 02:29

All mine are grown up now and tell me they like their names.

I used to affectionately call my youngest DS Whizzbob when he was little. His older brothers adapted it to Whingebob, or Whingey for short, and for some reason he still actually answers to it Confused

kateybeth79 · 11/07/2020 23:33

6 yr old DS would have preferred either Skullcrusher or Steven 🤣

ClosestThingToCrazy · 11/07/2020 23:28

DD5 seems to currently be identifying as a 70 year old man as she wants to be called Norman.

DD3 would also like to be called Norman, after her sister. Who then got upset that her sister was copying her.

Tillygetsit · 11/07/2020 23:22

DS1 says his name is him so he just wants that.
Dd
DD1 wants Bunny Hmm
DD2 too little to have an opinion.
As Meatloaf says, two outta three ain't bad.

My husband wanted to call our first daughter Adelaide. I thought he was mad and laughed it off. It was such a mouthful, and quite far out for the time (35 years ago).

When daughter was in her teens the subject of names came up I laughed and said "you won't believe what your dad wanted to call you..." and told her. To my astonishment, my very down to earth daughter loved it and said she wished she was called Adelaide!
