Jemima or Juliet

VintageGirl89 · 10/07/2020 21:28

We struggled for so long for girls names and couldn't find anything we loved, then suddenly we heard Jemima and it was perfect!
However, we have since fallen in love with Juliet too and can't decided between the two. So......

Which would you choose and why?
Jemima Isabel or
Juliet Isabella

Thank you Smile

How is Juliet a 'diminutive'?

Thirdchild88 · 10/07/2020 22:00

I'd go for Juliet.

Destroyedpeople · 10/07/2020 22:00

I really like Juliet.
Jemima makes me think of a duck.

back2good · 10/07/2020 21:57

I think Juliet is a lovely name.

CMMum88 · 10/07/2020 21:40

Oh I like both of them! I would wait til she arrives and then pick as you have two really lovely choices. I think Julia Isabel is also lovely.

daisypond · 10/07/2020 21:38

I like both, but Juliet is a diminutive, and I’m not so keen on diminutives as full names, even though it’s a name in its right. Jemima for me.

Justmemyself · 10/07/2020 21:34

I think Jemima is more usual and has nicer nickname potential.

Allmyeye · 10/07/2020 21:33

I love Jules as a nickname too.

CabernetSoWhat · 10/07/2020 21:33

Juliet!

Allmyeye · 10/07/2020 21:32

Juliet by a mile. It’s a lovely name. I do think it’s becoming increasingly popular though so if that matters to you you might want to go with Jemima. I can’t forget Jemima Puddleduck though.

lakeswimmer · 10/07/2020 21:31

Juliet Isabel (Less fussy than either Jemima or Isabella)

Orphlids · 10/07/2020 21:31

Juliet. I imagine Juliet as a sophisticated, beautiful woman, but I’m afraid I picture Jemima as incredibly horsey.

mylittleavalon · 10/07/2020 21:31

It's a tough one! I love them both, but I think Jemima wins for me because of the nickname being Jem or Mima, rather than Jules or Ettie for Juliet. However they are both beautiful.

lljkk · 10/07/2020 21:29

I find Jemima a tongue twister. J't is better because I don't find it difficult to say.
