Jemima or Juliet

VintageGirl89 · 10/07/2020 21:28

We struggled for so long for girls names and couldn't find anything we loved, then suddenly we heard Jemima and it was perfect!
However, we have since fallen in love with Juliet too and can't decided between the two. So......

Which would you choose and why?
Jemima Isabel or
Juliet Isabella

Thank you Smile

Juliet Isabel

Sarahbeans · 11/07/2020 01:51

I love both and know children with both names. There are lots of lovely nicknames for Jemima including Mimi and Mina. However, I have to say I do much prefer the spelling Juliette to Juliet.

It's Uncle Tom from 'Uncle Toms Cabin' not Uncle Ben off the rice packets. ...Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2020 01:34

Obvs it my cat who has the name so not a huge issue but whatever the issue is has totaly passed me by.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2020 01:33

Female Uncle Ben?Confused
You've lost me.
The rice guy?

alexdgr8 · 11/07/2020 01:26

yes that's another problem.
aunt jemima is a kind of female uncle ben.
on food products.

alexdgr8 · 11/07/2020 01:24

Jemima will always be puddleduck.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/07/2020 23:48

Racist connotations?
Why?

SemperIdem · 10/07/2020 23:27

I’d go for Juliet. Jemima has racist connotations in America and I find that off putting.

nocoolnamesleft · 10/07/2020 23:25

I like Jemima, but I confess I also thought puddleduck. Juliet sounds classy.

Badassmama · 10/07/2020 23:21

Jemima

Thank you all so far. Some really lovely responses for both Jemima and Juliet!
This is so hard!

I love both.
I have a cat named Jemima as I was never having more children so used my excess baby names on my cats!
I call her Mimes, or Mimey.

campion · 10/07/2020 22:54

Juliet

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 10/07/2020 22:51

Jemima is too puddle duck and horsey for me. Juliet is lovely.

Bubbletrouble43 · 10/07/2020 22:36

Juliet Isabel. Beautiful.

LesLavandes · 10/07/2020 22:28

Jemima is gorgeous

whywhywhy6 · 10/07/2020 22:26

Jemima

myfavouritefudgecake · 10/07/2020 22:19

I do like Jemima but it doesn't travel well to the U.S if that's important to you.

Whatsyourflava · 10/07/2020 22:13

Jemima by a mile - love it- one of my favourite names such a perfect choice

Juliet is ok but I don't like fairly inevitable nickname Jules

mathanxiety · 10/07/2020 22:05

I think they're both lovely.

Juliet pips it for me, though I would sound it out with your surname and without the middle name. The T ending might not be as easy to blend with a surname as the A ending if Jemima.

TimeStoleMyYouth · 10/07/2020 22:04

Juliet is elegant, Jemima doesn’t sound as nice IMO.

daisypond · 10/07/2020 22:04

Because of the “et”. It’s a diminutive of Julia.

stanski · 10/07/2020 22:03

Jemma better than Jemima. Juliet lovely

Chirpychirpy3 · 10/07/2020 22:02

Juliet = beautiful

Jemima = puddle duck
