Just that really. My husband and I think it's super adorable but also works for a girl in her teens and as an adult.
I think it's a classic name but am worried others will say it's dated? Any (not too critical) opinions would be great Smile

It's fine. Friendly. Not interesting but fine.

KindKylie · 09/07/2020 22:32

I think it's quite of its time and much more my generation than now. I don't dislike it but I much prefer Laura then Lara over it.

It's one of those names where you wouldn't know a single person in say their 50s called it so it definitely has a dated feel. Much like I don't know any young people called Pauline for eg.

Another Lauren here. I was the only one in my school and I've only met one other (I'm in my 30s)

There were at least 6 Laura's in my school and have met lots since. So wouldn't go for that.

I like my name though Smile

I know a 38 year old Lauren and a 15 year old one.
I think it's a bit wet but it is totally useable.
Laura is hideous I can't understand PPs preferring Laura over Lauren

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/07/2020 22:26

Love it.

MikeUniformMike · 09/07/2020 22:26

Thereallauren, it was the popularity that made is seem downmarket.

Therreallauren · 09/07/2020 22:23

NC for this!

I’m a Lauren and I’m 45. I never met another one growing up, but it did become popular as a baby name when I was in my mid teens to 20. How nice to discover that some posters think it’s’chavvy’.

PintOfGin · 09/07/2020 22:21

I like Lauren but hate Laura

Chickenwing · 09/07/2020 22:21

I love Lauren. Really dislike Laura but biased because I have never met a nice one.

Paddingtonthebear · 09/07/2020 22:19

It’s a little dated. But when it was fashionable it was “Laura” that was dated.

Lana is lovely

ConnellWaldronsChain · 09/07/2020 22:16

It's nice but I do think it's a bit dated (I would assume someone aged between 15 and 30)

I prefer Laura and feel it's a little more timeless

Stluciacharm · 09/07/2020 22:10

NamiSwan love the NN ren!

I don't mind people disliking the name but when people use really awful terms like townie or chavy/down-market I have to say I find this really obnoxious and a bit disheartening.

So common. I work with 2 Lauren's and have another friend Lauren. Far too common for me.

Bythepath · 09/07/2020 22:07

I love it. Its my DDs best friends name. They are 10, don't know any others of same age.

turquoisebaby · 09/07/2020 21:58

I know many Laurens in 1990-2000s though, I don't know of any Lauren's under the age of 25. I quite like the spelling Loren.

elp30 · 09/07/2020 21:49

Lauren is a popular name in my family.
We have variations of it consisting of:

Laura
Laurin
Loren
Lorena
Laurance
Laurentia

My first name is one of those variations and my older sister another.

jessstan2 · 09/07/2020 21:40

bestbrowsintown, Emma, Rachel and Sarah are classic, timeless names. Lauren isn't.

resm · 09/07/2020 21:35

I really love the name Lauren, definitely timeless and fits any age as you say. I know one in primary school (though spelt Loren), in their 20s and another in 30s.

MissMoodyMoo · 09/07/2020 21:19

There was 13 laurens in my year at school. 5 of them were best friends and were awful people I'm 25 so it's very 90s

Anappleaday1 · 09/07/2020 21:10

It's fine, nice enough but I can't get excited about it. I do much prefer it to Laura though and I know far far more Lauras than Laurens (early thirties). I think Lara is lovely if you are looking for alternatives.

Goyle · 09/07/2020 16:35

I know a 16 year old Lauren. It's ok...I think it's a bit dated now.

bestbrowsintown · 09/07/2020 16:31

It's pretty. I also like Emma, Rachel and Sarah which feel like the same type of name.

jessstan2 · 09/07/2020 16:24

It's OK, always sounds to me like one of those 'made up' names, like Leanne. It belongs alongside the Joannes, Karens and Kellys which were popular some years back.

SingingSands · 09/07/2020 16:21

Great name and suits all ages.

I was called Lauren for a week, until my mum changed her mind after overhearing another mum on the ward use a name she liked the sound ofGrin
