We are considering the name Hodge for a boy. However we have gotten some negative feedback that has us second guessing it. I just want to reach out for opinions before we remove it as an option completely. Thanks in advance!!

I actually think this is a joke.

Blingismything · 08/07/2020 18:35

No, just no

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 08/07/2020 18:34

No OP.
JUST NO.

AudTheDeepMinded · 08/07/2020 18:32

Christ on a bike, noooooooooooo. Why don't you call him something more conventional and use this as a nickname?

tallrachel · 08/07/2020 18:31

If this thread were an audition on Britains Got Talent it would have been closed by now.

finallychangedmyusername · 08/07/2020 18:29

Orson Hodge in Desperate Housewives for me too! There's a scene where Bree tells him she doesn't like the name Hodge.

I like the name Orson. Hodge, sorry, not so much.

TiptopJ · 08/07/2020 18:28

It sounds like a boys/young mans nickname given from the surname hodgkins. That's what I would assume when if i heard it sorry.

WhereYouLeftIt · 08/07/2020 18:26

Hodge? Never heard of that as a name. My first thought was 'heaven help him if he's overweight, he will be called Podge by one and all', thinking they're being funny. In fact, he won't even have to be fat to be labelled that. It'll do wonders for his self-esteem (not).

xmummy2princesx · 08/07/2020 18:23

Awful

pombearsyummy · 08/07/2020 18:22

In my world potential parents should need to pass a test before being allowed to reproduce. If this potential name were to be stated on the test then you would instantly be docked ten points.

Orphlids · 08/07/2020 18:17

Ha ha, it really is dreadful! I normally try to be kind on here, but it absolutely, hilariously, awful. It made me snort with laughter when I read it.

stressedhousebuyer · 08/07/2020 18:14

🦔 Hedgehog

itbemay1 · 08/07/2020 18:13

Sorry I think it's awful.

GertiMJN · 08/07/2020 18:11

Sounds like an uncomplimentary nickname to me. Looks like Hedge and when I hear it immediately makes me think of podge.

moolaalaa · 08/07/2020 18:11

Borderline child abuse that.

Grandmi · 08/07/2020 18:11

Awful name ...sorry!

AdaColeman · 08/07/2020 18:10

Once he started school he would forever be known as Podge.

MIgZig · 08/07/2020 18:10

Don't do it to your baby.

Apolloanddaphne · 08/07/2020 18:10

It isn't a very attractive word. I thought hodge podge too. You can do much better I am sure.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/07/2020 18:09

Terrible.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/07/2020 18:08

Hideous. I also thought of the Polish. It’s what you say to a dog or child to get them to hurry up.

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2020 18:08

Why do you like it? Are there any other names you like?

Makes me think of Orson Hodge from Desperate housewives! If I'm honest I don't really like it, sorry.
