What could Lina be short for?

Lina pronounced 'Lee-na'

I also like Lena pronounced 'Lay-na'

Lena is really nice and sounds stronger and more interesting than Lina which sounds like an ending for something else.

I would say Lena as Leena not Layna if I saw it written down and I think most English speakers would.
