Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

You could have if if pronounced Clementeen Harrowdine? Just ....

Don't think you could have Clementyne Harrowdyne tho ...

She'd be Clemmie Harrowdyne which sounds great.

Then Clem Harrowdyne when she's older. Fab!

EspressoPatronum · 29/06/2020 20:39

Pp who are saying Clem/pleghm... Do you hate Em as well? I know a couple of Emma's and Emily's who get Em. Hmm

Op Clementine harrowdine is fine, though I do prefer Clementina!

GrapefruitGin · 29/06/2020 20:37

Nooo, poor kid!

GreenMintTeaMug · 29/06/2020 20:36

and i agree with everyione that the name sounds like a heroine in a novel!

Vicliz24 · 29/06/2020 20:36

Of course you can ! She will have a strong distinctive beautiful name to be proud of

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/06/2020 20:34

I really hate the name Clementine. Clem and Clemmie are terrible too. Sorry OP.

The rhyming is a bit twee but doesn’t bother me that much. The middle name we’ve chosen for DD2 rhymes with our surname as well.

tinseltitsandlittlegits · 29/06/2020 20:33

I think it sounds lovely with your surname

GreenMintTeaMug · 29/06/2020 20:32

Clementina for what it's worth

Chocolatebrownielove · 29/06/2020 20:31

Love it! I say go for it. As PP have said, sounds like a character from a classic novel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Veganforlife · 29/06/2020 20:31

It’s beautiful ,it flows ,she will be beautiful like her name x

Quayyy · 29/06/2020 20:28

Of course you can! Do whatever you want.

Craiglang · 29/06/2020 20:25

Clementine Harrowdyne sounds like a strong female character from a really cool kids book. A good role model for young girls. I'm not usually a fan of rhyming names but I have to say, I love it.

Please don't call her Clem though, that's too close to phlegm Envy

CatPeach · 29/06/2020 20:23

I love it.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 29/06/2020 20:21

It's lovely.
Definitely a notice it and remember name. But not silly or embarrassing.

Like a character from a novel.

Or she would be someone's great love that poetry was written about.

BlueJeanBabeh · 29/06/2020 20:21

It sounds like a whimsical fictional character from a book, which makes me love it!

Szalinski · 29/06/2020 20:21

Ronnie Rennie Grin how unfortunate!

OP I like the name, it sounds very eccentric but in a good way! I think you're sold on the name but as an alternative how about Florentyna Harrodine?

Doordine · 29/06/2020 20:20

I love it. Do it.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/06/2020 20:19

I think it’s lovely.

Isbutteracarb · 29/06/2020 20:19

I think if you really love the name you should go for it, I know a Clementine who always gets called Clem so if you called her that for short it would go great with your surname!

I prefer Clemency actually. I can never deceive on -teen Or -Tyne for Clementine. I don’t think a name has to ‘go’ with a surname. My kids go to the dentist once every 6 months, that’s the only time any one calls out their whole name!

MsTSwift · 29/06/2020 20:12

Well I love the name no one but utter idiots mentions oranges - the name predates the fruit btw and she’ll likely be Clem on day to day basis. You could rhyme every name with something unpleasant if you tried hard enough 🙄

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 29/06/2020 20:12

I love Clemency, and Clémence.

chunkyrun · 29/06/2020 20:11

Use it, you obviously love it

SunbathingDragon · 29/06/2020 20:10

@GlennRheeismyfavourite

Always loathed the name - will end up with Clem or Clemie- which rhymes with phlegm!!!
I know an Emmie.
