Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

Clemmie would work if you liked it enough to be her full name....I love the names Hermione and Iris, I have one son and the ship has definitely sailed as far as having more kids is concerned, I just love a thread about girls names!

Zoikes care to share? Smile

One of mine has a first name after a literary character and gets addressed by me as full character name frequently.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/06/2020 21:33

"Clemency= Last minute death row appeal."

Look at Amelia though which means "No limbs". There's plenty of them running around

Zoikes · 29/06/2020 21:31

I like it, Clementine Harrowdyne.

May need a splendiferous middle name to add for when you are doing proper telling off in a few years - Zebediah or Katerina or Evangeline Grin

Remember to consider the initials (C. K. Harrowdyne looks good).

Indigochi · 29/06/2020 21:31

Naming a kid after an orange basically? That's peak for the child

screwthedoldrums · 29/06/2020 21:29

Clemency = last minute Death row appeal

It's similar to Faith and Hope for me - I associate them with sorrow

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 21:28

Zoya* since I've never had the pleasure of choosing a boys name I know exactly what I would pick!

BabyItsAWildWorld · 29/06/2020 21:26

You should have another baby just to call her Clementine Harrowdine.
It's that good.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 29/06/2020 21:26

Of course now that you have MN approval you are pretty much guaranteed to have a boy... in which case Clement is lovely!

IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 21:25

MrsPeacock
What are you envisaging with regards this name?

OP posts:
IdentifyasTired · 29/06/2020 21:24

Hmm the lack of professionalism in the name I have considered.

Though I do find the whole 'could she be a QC with that name' discussion pretty tiresome and narrow minded in general.

But it's a valid point.

Clemency is nowhere near as pretty, go for Clementine!

Megan2018 · 29/06/2020 21:20

It is a mouthful but it’s fine.
I know 2 Clementines, it’s a good name.

I really don’t think you should give a damn what other people think!

TippledPink · 29/06/2020 21:20

Yes I didn't read it as a rhyme and thought it sounded great, but you know how your surname is pronounced! I say go for it, day to day she will only be called her first name surely??

Bawdrip · 29/06/2020 21:18

Name her whatever you like. If you really love it then that's the one. I like it for what it's worth.

TheFoz · 29/06/2020 21:18

Noooooo. But then I really don’t like Clementine as a name.

Crockodoodle · 29/06/2020 21:16

Clementine doesn't rhyme with your surname in my world.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/06/2020 21:13

Sorry Op, but It's a bit too Tyne repetitive. Do you not like Clemency.
Clemency Harrowdyne is gorgeous.

MikeUniformMike · 29/06/2020 21:11

@ellenpartridge, but if she is called Clementine as her usual day-to-day name, she'll still be Clementine Surname, but with the added hassle of being known by a middle name.

ticktackted · 29/06/2020 21:08

I actually love it! I think rhythm in names is really important.

Mrsmchammer · 29/06/2020 21:08

I love it and I love that it rhymes. Aside from that she will probably be called Clemmie anyway. Love it all. And congrats.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 29/06/2020 21:07

I love it. I too think literary character. I'm sure if Ms Stackpole came onto MN asking about the name Henrietta, she's get some negative responses for the number of syllables or something. Use it!
