Thoughts on...... Elsie

Just looking for some thoughts/opinions on the name Elsie? Am concerned it might be quite old sounding next to Noah.

I'm not worried about popularity, I actually prefer top 100 names having had an uncommon name myself growing up and hating it.
Siblings are Noah and Jacob.

The other names we are considering are:
Isabella, Daisy, Poppy, Amelia, Connie, Chloe, Robyn (worried this could only be used for a Christmas baby?), Lily-Rose (people on here don't seem to like double barrel names?) and Delilah (negative biblical reference? Maybe off putting slighty).

Which would you pick? And why?

Many thanks.

I really like Elsie, I think it's lovely for a child and for an adult. And not too overused nowadays.

I also like all the other names you have listed, but I think my favourites are Daisy, Poppy and Delilah

Great taste!

No offence but Elsie does sound like a victorian housemaid. And it doesn't sound like a full name.
Sofia is cool.
Any name double barrelled with Rose does sound a little.....tired these days.

my mum is an Elsie but its actually short for Elizabeth in her case

Sofia or Isabella would be my preference.

I don't like Elsie, it's dowdy and twee.

Elsie.....an Edwardian housemaid.

I honestly love all your names but favourite probably Elsie as it works well with Noah

You know Noah is a really old name too right. It sounds modern now but so does Elsie too. Every Elsie your daughter will meet us likely to be her age or younger ❤️

I like Elsie, how how about the Welsh way without the e on the end - Elsi?

VintageGirl89 · 28/06/2020 16:01

Forgot to add Sofia to list. Prefer this spelling due to international links.

Isabella, Daisy, Poppy, Amelia, Connie, Chloe. All nice

Lily rose is not nice imo... nor Delilah

Elsie is a bit too old lady for my taste
