What do you think of Fern? Which spelling would you use? Fearne, Ferne or Fern?

Other options for something short, I am open to. Others I like are Maude and Nell.

Fern as it is, is a lovely name, would go for it!

SirVixofVixHall · 26/06/2020 14:22

I hate newly made up names like Wren, too trendy.
Fern is a classic and underused name.

mondler · 26/06/2020 13:50

I have a relative called Fern whose in her 30s now. It's a lovely name and she spells it's that way too.

DoneWithLove · 25/06/2020 17:12

Definitely Fern 😍

Edenember · 25/06/2020 12:08

@OopsyMama Pretty ♥️ I actually prefer Nell from your list (On my list!) but Fern I’d imagine will be lesser used while not being wacky. I love one syllable names, my favourite of all is Eve but probably too popular for you. Also like Bea, Jeane, Hope, Faith, Pearl, Tess, Bess, Gwen.

Other suggestions - Jane, Joy, Maeve.

OopsyMama · 25/06/2020 08:53

I really love Faye too! That's definitely along the same vein of names I like

Love Fern and love Tess...
Beth and June are the only other one syllables girls names that spring to mind.

Joolsin · 24/06/2020 20:28

I like all your names. Fern is lovely, as are Tess and Nell. How about Fay/Faye as another similarly styled short name?

Cloverglens · 24/06/2020 20:25

I have a Dd called Fern everyone comments on how lovely her name is and it so suits her 😍

LadyLovelyLockz · 24/06/2020 20:18

Love Fern. It was my alternative for DD, whose name is...Tess :)

DH marginally preferred Tess so we went with that, but I dream of another girl to name Fern. Our other choices were Maeve and Penny.

Blursula · 24/06/2020 20:14

Lovely, with that spelling. I also know a little Fenn

SnowdropFox · 24/06/2020 20:02

Love Fern. Simple and pretty.

daisypond · 24/06/2020 19:56

Fern is lovely. I like Joy too, but prefer Fern.

Raera · 24/06/2020 17:17

If you like Joy, what about Hope?

janetmendoza · 24/06/2020 17:11

Fern is super- really like it!

PeterPomegranate · 24/06/2020 17:01

I think Fern is lovely. I like ferns so that could be why! I love nature names generally. Have you considered Wren?

MrsEricBana · 24/06/2020 17:00

Sorry to go against the grain here but Fern has Dawn connotations to me. A bit bland. But agree spelled Fern if anything.

Vaunting · 24/06/2020 16:59

I like Fern and I’d spell it that way.

I also like Tess.

I like Fleur too.

Jj2431 · 24/06/2020 16:56

I like Fern and would spell it like that

ChikiTIKI · 24/06/2020 16:55

I love Fern, and Joy too.

Lots of names that mean "Joy" or "Joyful" that you could consider.

Peachbubble · 24/06/2020 16:50

Definitely spelt Fern.

OopsyMama · 24/06/2020 16:34

Thank you all.

Tess is lovely, yes. I rather it as just Tess, not Tessa personally.

DP likes Joy, short and simple too. Jurys out on that one atm.

Super pretty and the spelling Fern is my favourite spelling of the name🥰

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2020 15:14

Fern is beautiful. Just that, no messing about with the spelling.

Marcipex · 24/06/2020 15:13

Fern is lovely.
Tess is very pretty too.

I don’t understand the popularity of Nell though; I wouldn’t use a name that rhymes with smell. Kids are mean.
