Cherry - love or loathe?

I mentioned this name to my husband a couple of months ago when I was admiring all the cherry blossom on the trees. I think I've gone off it but he's still really keen. Sibling name is quite unusual so it's good in that sense but I'm really unsure whether or not I like it. What do others think?

I love the name Cherry!

cakegoblin · 21/06/2020 20:11

What about Cherith, then you could use Cherry for short/nickname? Very unusual and IMO a beautiful name.

MrMeSeeks · 21/06/2020 20:08

No

Cissyandflora · 21/06/2020 20:08

Cherry has been my favourite girls name for decades. It never gets a good response when I tell people though. Also the popping cherry would worry me. But I still absolutely love it.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 21/06/2020 20:06

Absolutely love!

missmouse101 · 21/06/2020 20:01

Quite sweet. Prefer Amber. Or Cassia.

zingally · 21/06/2020 19:48

It's one of those names I REALLY want to like, as I think it's pretty.

But I had a teacher at that school with that name, so I rather associate it with a rather unlikable middle-aged woman.

nevernotstruggling · 21/06/2020 19:00

Loathe

HopeClearwater · 21/06/2020 18:57

Sherrin

Eh? As in Ned Sherrin? That’s a surname.

FerryCrossTheMersey · 21/06/2020 18:54

How about Cherish? There’s a judge on bake off professionals called Cherish, and whenever they say her name I always think cherry, but that might be because of her coloured hair 😂

AragornsManlyStubble · 21/06/2020 18:33

Love it!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 21/06/2020 18:25

I like it. I also know a Sherri, Sheri and a Sheree, all lovely grown women, so I'm probably biased.

starterfor11 · 21/06/2020 18:25

I know four Cherry's!.........Love it.

Viviennemary · 21/06/2020 18:24

Dreadful.

SpeedofaSloth · 21/06/2020 18:23

I know a Cherry and a Blossom, both professional women, both are nice names IMHO.

SuperEkstra · 21/06/2020 18:20

It's a pole dancer name

Scottishflower · 21/06/2020 18:11

I absolutely love it!!! Quirky but not made up and has a slight vintage feel. X

HelmutShmacker · 21/06/2020 18:09

I know someone called Cherry, I quite like it!

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 21/06/2020 18:08

What about blossom?
Ot is that too 90s mayim balik?
I quite like cherry though

riotlady · 21/06/2020 18:06

Loathe, sorry

Whatsyourflava · 21/06/2020 17:46

The girl called Mary at my school always got called Virgin Mary (silly I know!) But she used to get so embarrassed especially when she got first boyfriend.
So I definitely think Cherry is a risk - can imagine talk of "popping Cherry" a lot

cptartapp · 21/06/2020 17:44

I know one.
Loathe it.
