Little girl arrived on Wednesday and she's absolutely beautiful. We're smitten but we still haven't decided on a name! I had a really horrendous pregnancy including depression and I just can't decide what she looks like, please help! Her brother is Oliver, surname is Haywood.

This is our list so far, happy to use either name for first or middle name, or if anyone has any other recommendations they would be much appreciated as I am starting to feel more than a little bit useless Sad!

Harper
Florence
Ella
Dulcie
Eden
Isabella
Neve/Neave

Thanks you wonderful MNers Grin

I have an Oliver and if I had a girl she’d be called Ivy or Eloise.

StayClosePooky · 20/06/2020 20:00

Thank you everyone this is helping a lot.

I've just asked her but she's in a milk coma Grin

Oooh Dulcie, such a lovely name and very unusual.

Florence is very nice, but may be shortened to Flo - so depends how you feel about that.

concernedforthefuture · 20/06/2020 19:57

I know young Olivers with sisters called:

Ruby
Harriet
Charlotte
Juliette
Bonnie
Danielle
Phyllis
Matilda (Tilly)
Imogen
Victoria

123Dancewithme · 20/06/2020 19:56

Florence, definitely.

CatteStreet · 20/06/2020 19:45

Not Harper, not Eden, not Neve (you could use Niamh but spell it properly). Florence is lovely, Ella, Isabella and Dulcie are fine.

Nothing pretentious about Emmeline, and she can go by the very down-to-earth shortening Em.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 20/06/2020 19:41

It doesn't have to "go" with Oliver
It does have to go with your surname
I think Harper Haywood sounds like someone destined for great things or a good time in life.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 20/06/2020 19:39

Madeleine Rose

Marlena1 · 20/06/2020 19:35

Agree re spelling of Niamh. If you wanted the same theme of Niamh with another O, Orla would be nice.

Flappingflamingo · 20/06/2020 19:30

I have an Isabel and Niamh so a bit biased, if going for Niamh I personally feel it should be spelt that way. I love the name Florence though, that's my favourite from your list and sounds lovely with Oliver

DramaAlpaca · 20/06/2020 19:26

Florence or Isabella for me.

Harper and Dulcie are horrid, Ella is pretty but a bit wishy washy.

Neve/Neave - it's Niamh! Don't mess with the spelling of such a beautiful name.

Eden would be a nice middle name.

Blursula · 20/06/2020 19:21

Dulcie is gorgeous

I adore Eden and Madeleine, and think those two or Isabella go best with both Oliver and your surname. Also really like Neve but would spell it Niamh. Congrats, and you're not useless - this naming thing is a nightmare!

Spied · 20/06/2020 17:59

Isabella Eden Haywood. Beautiful.

farnworth · 20/06/2020 17:54

Oliver and Nancy?

EmperorCovidula · 20/06/2020 17:51

Every Oliver with a sister I’ve ever known has a Millicent nn Milly for a sister. I have known several of these.

emmathedilemma · 20/06/2020 17:47

I love Florence but can see you concerns about the nicknames. Even you don’t use them others inevitably will as they grow up.
Flora might be less likely to get shortened?

LilacSloth · 20/06/2020 16:58

From your list I think Florence and Isabella sound good with Oliver. Perhaps Floss as a nickname for Florence? I also think Madeleine is beautiful.

Some suggestions:
Oliver and Verity
Oliver and Felicity
Oliver and Genevieve
Oliver and Flora
Oliver and Rebecca

Congratulations! X

StayClosePooky · 20/06/2020 16:22

Isabella Florence is very pretty, handy thought of that.

Emily is a lovely classic name but unfortunately know too many little girls! I did like Emmeline as an alternative but DH tho is it's a bit pretentious

Emily.

lymphopenia · 20/06/2020 15:56

Ella and Isabella both go beautifully with Oliver

I'd probably go for Isabella Florence

Congratulations Thanks

Justgivemesomepeace · 20/06/2020 15:53

I know an Oliver and Iris.
I love Isabella the best from your list.

sunflowersandtulips50 · 20/06/2020 15:52

I like Ella, not a fan of Harper.

Oliver & Hannah
Oliver& Jemima
Oliver & Louis
Oliver & Grace
Oliver & Ettie
