Greek or German girls names

I have Greek and German heritage. Expecting a 4th baby girl. We already have Xanthe, Hebe and Olympia. No repeating initials with the girls names - so no names beginning with X, H or O and not Persephone as we have a ds called Perseus (nn Percy). Thanks!

Artemis is lovely

Teapot13 · 08/04/2021 01:14

Sybil? Sybille is a little dated in German but it would tie in with the Greek.

midsomermurderess · 06/04/2021 21:42

merryhouse, exactly, otherwise it's a pointless exercise, people offering up random names they've come across with no guidance or parameters.

Baffledma · 06/04/2021 19:18

Delphi?

merryhouse · 20/06/2020 14:41

Given that you have this heritage, would it not perhaps be better to put forward suggestions from your heritage and ask solidly-culturally-British people their opinions on each?

Nataly
Ekaterina
Yvoni
Andromachi

I worked with a Greek woman once called Aristi, and the name always stuck in my head. Pronounced Ah-REEST-ee.

ProperVexed · 20/06/2020 14:29

Calliope

I love Greek girls names! I am half Greek but have a French first name (my other 'half' is not French). Anyway, my favourite names are

Danae
Eleni
Melina

thedevilinablackdress · 20/06/2020 14:21

Charis is a nice Greek name

Immigrantsong · 20/06/2020 14:19

Marlene or Marlena for German name.
Or Marilena for Greek.

AragornsManlyStubble · 20/06/2020 14:16

The Taygete in the book goes by ‘Tiggy’ too, I agree OP, it’s a great nickname!

Thanks everyone! Some good suggestions! Antegone is not one I've considered before - like the nn Tiggy. Do very much like Eleanora.

Calliope has negative connotations in Greece as it can mean latrine.

HildegardeCrowe · 20/06/2020 14:01

Monika

Ellmau · 20/06/2020 13:59

Ariadne
Cassandra
Calliope
Psyche
Phoebe
Artemis
Athene
Zoe
Sophia
Electra
Demetria

I wouldn't use a German name as it will stick out like a sore thumb compared to the others.
