Just this...Mulling girl's name choices and interested in other views. What do you think of the name Lenora? Anything similar which you would suggest?

Just as everyone else has said....fabric conditioner..

ChickenFriedFudge · 21/06/2020 15:25

I love Matilda

PrincessHoneysuckle · 21/06/2020 08:11

Definitely fabric softener!

NameChange84 · 21/06/2020 08:03

Matilda (cutesy, harsh sounding, fairly common) isn’t anywhere near as nice as Leonora (classy, beautiful, unusual).

But it’s an improvement on Lenora.

fairislecable · 21/06/2020 07:57

I recently met a little girl whose name is Leonora but she has the nickname La la (mispronunciation by older sibling) but now used by everyone.

It sounded really pretty both in full and as a NN.

LotusClover · 20/06/2020 18:29

Sorry but I did think of the fabric softener. Not keen on Elenya either, it sounds like a strange mispronunciation of Eleanor. How about:

Elora
Enya
Anya
Maya
Orla
Nia/Nya

Hello, thanks for all these suggestions! Lots of lovely names. The other one we were vaguely thinking of was Matilda.

How about Honora? Shortened to Nora or Nonie. Or Honor like Honor Blackman.

Eleri, Elinor or Elin for a Welsh slant.

Leonora better than Lenora.

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 21:55

Have you considered the Welsh name Eleri?

DwayneBenzie · 19/06/2020 21:45

Oh sorry I thought you wrote Leonora. Which is a good name.

elQuintoConyo · 19/06/2020 21:41

I think it's pretty. I like all the other names mentioned too.

Or how about Lamorna? A Cornish artist has this name, it's lovely.

NameChange84 · 19/06/2020 21:40

Leonora is infinitely nicer than Lenora which does sound like fabric rinse. It’s only one syllable more...tiny difference really.

Also prefer Elena to Elenya.

Leota or Leona or Leontine are nice alternatives if you like this vibe.

Elora is a name I heard recently and thought was different in a good way and has some of the sounds from your original name choice.

I’d be seriously impressed to come across a little Leonora though...beautiful name.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/06/2020 21:37

*Elenaora

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/06/2020 21:37

Eleonora would have been my PFB name had he not been a boy called Sam.
Love it.
Otherwise Lenora not very nice as a name. It is a fabric softener

DwayneBenzie · 19/06/2020 21:35

I love it. It makes me think of the artist Leonora Carrington. Who would think of a laundry detergent?! How odd.

mum2jakie · 19/06/2020 21:35

I prefer Leonie or Leoni.

Ellmau · 19/06/2020 21:33

Washing your clothes.

Leonora is very nice.

Elinor? More unusual spelling than Eleanor, but Jane Austen used it so it automatically has class ;)

Reluctantcavedweller · 19/06/2020 19:07

@HowFastIsTooFast

Totally agree, but DH doesn't!

Should say, I also like Leonora and Eleanora but existing DS has a long slightly 'fancy' name. So trying to keep it a bit more streamlined (3 syllables max) so they don't sound ridiculous together!

I don't think Eleanor is old fashioned. My colleague has the name, she's 22 and very cool, her friends call her Ella, El or Ellie. Could also be shortened to Lea if preferred Smile

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 18:58

Prefer Leonora. Lenora reminds me too much of Lenor.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 19/06/2020 18:48

I really like Elenya.
I also like Lara and Laura.

eandz13 · 19/06/2020 18:37

I love Lenora. I don't immediately think of Lenor, and even if someone does, it shouldn't matter as its just a nice smelling product so I don't think there's a problem. My first thought was Liam Neesons wife from the Taken films. Very elegant name imo Smile

NotNowPlzz · 19/06/2020 18:32

I adore it. And don't take into account the fabric softener connection. People might think that for one moment on first meeting her, but then will forget it. It's not a reason not to choose the name tbh.

Sojo88 · 19/06/2020 18:31

I immediately thought of fabric softener too, but to be fair I don't think it would stay that way - once people got to know your Lenora they'd soon forget about Lenor, I'm sure. It makes a nice name.
