After five boys my youngest son who's now two was born, we like unusual names and chose Baker we loved it, until he got a letter from the NHS with the master Baker!!! ( say it fast) lol

OP posts:

Do they even still use Master!?

Smellbellina · 20/06/2020 09:13

😂

I always remember my DM saying some about some people ‘mass debating’ in a shop.

I think people on MN sometimes take things far too seriously OP 😉

IndiaMay · 20/06/2020 09:08

I wouldn't worry. He wont get called master often.
Hmm to all the dullards being rude about the name because it isn't a top 10 name that everyone else has. I like Baker it's cute.

daisypond · 20/06/2020 09:05

This really isn’t an issue.

Eskaa · 20/06/2020 08:58

I bet whoever wrote the letter did it for a laugh 😅

user1493494961 · 19/06/2020 17:41

I can't be the only one wondering what the other five are called.

ohoneohtwo · 19/06/2020 15:05

Isn't . I did not write ain't

ohoneohtwo · 19/06/2020 15:04

None of my sons have ever been referred to as master irl. They are 17 & 19.

This ain't something I would give any headspace.

A letter would read Master Baker Surname. And you look at that, you don't say it out loud anyway.

GrumpyHoonMain · 19/06/2020 14:54

You can ask the NHS to change his title to Mr.

Sk1nnyB1tch · 19/06/2020 14:52

I really like Baker!

Giganticshark · 19/06/2020 14:41

As long as your surname isn't Hiscock, Mycock, Cox

Cabin · 19/06/2020 08:53
Hmm
WhatWouldDominicDo · 19/06/2020 08:45

Baker is his first name though. So if his surname is Jones, he'd be Master Jones, not Master Baker.

No one uses the title Master very much these days anyway, so you're over/ reacting, a lot.

I'd be more concerned that people thought he is a master baker, like a master carpenter or something. It's a proper qualification.

Pegaroo · 19/06/2020 08:27

Oh dear, that is unfortunate. Never mind, not much you can do now. Hope Masterbaker develops and excellent sense of humour.

BlueJava · 19/06/2020 08:04

I think Baker is a great name. I really wouldn't worry about the Master bit. Master is unusual these days and it's only used when young. I think you are over thinking it personally.

FridaKFangirl · 19/06/2020 07:56

^^ all names were made up not memes!! :)

FridaKFangirl · 19/06/2020 07:55

Baker isn’t my personal style for a name but I think you’ll be fine as he gets older especially. You rarely hear master.

I assume you’re in the UK. The name Baker is growing in popularity anyway, especially in the US with the quarterback Baker Mayfield. So I’m not sure why some are claiming it to be a very strange choice. It’s less common here but not a ‘made up’ name (though all memes were made up at some point...)

I think it will be fine @Sam2009samantha

Topseyt · 19/06/2020 07:45

I'd change it - to something more normal and classic. Sorry, but I just don't like these yoonique names at all.

Wibblewobble03 · 19/06/2020 07:33

Our gp receptionist calls out names with master or miss especially for children, we have heard miss missy and master cash which sounded more like masterclass until she pointed to the young boy in question!

mrsmummy111 · 19/06/2020 07:01

Ps for all the miserable sods out there I think this thread was meant to be lighthearted

mrsmummy111 · 19/06/2020 07:00

Guessing you’re northern, doesn’t really have the same ring to it for us southerners Wink

VelvetTrews · 19/06/2020 06:52

But surely it would be Master followed by surname or at least Baker and then surname. And only on letters. Sooo... Confused

babydisney · 19/06/2020 06:48

@Sugarpea123 Yes i would, Any individual has the right too opinion. If it is simply ridiculous would give my opinion.
