Crazy names you didn’t use?

Oh, is mine a list to be judged. Grin

For my 1st, I fully admit I shouldn’t have been allowed to name a cat, let alone a child. She narrowly avoided being called Keilani Aqua.

I hang my head in shame.

My 2nd escaped any really dodgy possibilities, lucky thing.

My 3rd......Well on the list were Scipio, Zealand and Rockford. I hadn’t learned my lesson from number 1.

Not saying I don’t still like them, but I know now they shouldn’t have been on the list!

What names did you have on The List, that you look back and think ‘How was I THAT crazy?’ Grin

I really like Benedict and Quentin...

Anyway DH wanted to call DS Winston or Nelson (now the names of my brother's dogs). Before we knew that DD was a girl he threatened me with Genghis (we're white British but it does go well with our surname).

bluemoon2468 · 21/06/2020 05:21

@sergeilavrov love Caspian and Otto 😊

nobodyknowsmyname · 21/06/2020 05:16

Funny to see DH's name on this thread mentioned a few times. I've named changed for this but he's called Axel. I actually met a few before meeting him so it really is just another name to me.

sergeilavrov · 21/06/2020 03:43

I have dearly wanted to name a girl Beatrice. Everyone, even my PhD advisor back then, told me it’s an awful name. DH got us a dog, and called it Beatrice. Horatio for a boy. DH got me an elderly cat called Horatio to stop me using it.

I have a DS Caspian. Follow up hits may include Otto, Ottilie, Phineas. Or I might just end up with new pets.

My mom almost named me Coubertina as a tribute to the founder of the modern Olympics (Pierre de Coubertin) since she loves the Olympics. Cool idea, but I'm so glad she didn't, lol.

@TonyBennsCat

I wanted Zinzan. DH wanted Woody. We ended up with a Tom.
Tom 😂😂 lovely name just very different to the other ideas!

Ze1tGeist · 20/06/2020 21:53

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/06/2020 20:15

I would have loved Thor. My great-great grandad was Thor so technically it's a family name and not a rip-off of Marvel films...

SecretWitch · 20/06/2020 16:14

@MadCoffeeLady

Bambi 😬
I went to school in the US with two Bambi’s! We called them Bambi1 and Bambi2..
SpringSpringTime · 20/06/2020 15:38

@SpringSpringTime, in for a penny, in for a pound!

SpringSpringTime · 20/06/2020 14:10

Lol @Orphlids one or the other, not both together! Uther for preference. I also like Derion (as in the saint who rides a stag)

MadCoffeeLady · 20/06/2020 13:10

Bambi 😬

AragornsManlyStubble · 20/06/2020 13:09

I’m the worst person to be a calming voice of sanity!

‘Should I call my baby Spartacus?’

‘Yes. Yes you should.’

‘What about ‘Joanofarc? All one word!’

‘That’s awesome, and will absolutely suit a modern child!’

I love unusual names and only rarely has someone crossed my barrier of ‘Too Much’!

He is far from distinguished, just a wriggly mad sausage of fur! Grin

Quentin

What's crazy about that? Smile Honestly wondering as we have one!

Orphlids · 20/06/2020 12:38

If this baby had been a boy, I honestly think we might have named it Uther Pendragon. My DP was totally onboard - no calming voice of sanity in my ear.

Flyingarcher · 20/06/2020 12:15

@aragorns that is a very distinguished ferret then. I also like Benedict but round about that time every child was called Ben and I do think of Bendicks Mints!

Wither · 19/06/2020 17:45

I really like Winter, less so when it’s paired with Rose as that seems a bit obvious.

managedmis · 19/06/2020 16:28

One of our cousins is called Maverick - even more curious is they are French and have a really French surname

bluemoon2468 · 19/06/2020 16:27

I had Sunny on my girl list as well. DH was like errrr no. Also October, which I still like in theory for a book character or something, just think it would have been a bit much in real life (imagine shouting it across the playground 🙈) Winter and Ember were other unusual contenders had we been having a girl 😕

managedmis · 19/06/2020 16:26

Quentin
