DD1 is Molly. We really like Penny for DD2, but now we're talking about Uma. What do you think? (I know, I know, Uma Thurman)

Uma and Molly don't go well together at all. Uma is quite a classic name, the name of a Hindu goddess and would be seen as exotic here. Molly is a cute name, a nicknamey kind of vibe and very English. To go with Molly I think names like Daisy, Ellie, Marnie and Penny are a much better fit.

Sooooobored · 22/06/2020 13:36

Not keen at all sorry.

TheWashingMachine · 22/06/2020 13:34

Dreadful, stick to Penny

imissmydad · 22/06/2020 11:48

Makes me think 'granny' too but my SIL is SA.

babynamelover · 20/06/2020 23:53

I like both Uma and Una they are lovely with Molly much more unexpected than Penny.

Glittercandle · 20/06/2020 23:12

My friend has a DD called Uma, her Sri Lankan grandfather chose her name. I like it.

FlashesOfRage · 20/06/2020 23:09

The only Uma I have known personally was of Indian descent.

user1493494961 · 16/06/2020 22:26

I don't think Penny's similar to Molly and is a much nicer name than Uma.

Zisforstripyoss · 16/06/2020 22:06

Uma is also the name of a baddie in the Descendants films, if that makes a difference to you OP! I don't like the sound of the name at all, sorry. Penny is much nicer.

Spied · 16/06/2020 22:01

I don't like it.
I do like Penny but I think it's v v v similar to Molly so not sure I'd choose that either.

ConstanceL · 16/06/2020 21:57

Penny is a nice name!

pinktaxi · 16/06/2020 21:29

It's awful imo

123Dancewithme · 16/06/2020 20:44

Penny is much nicer.

Whatsyourflava · 16/06/2020 18:39

Penny is much nicer. Great choice

AdaColeman · 16/06/2020 18:34

Uma is too close in sound to Oma, the Dutch for Granny, for me to be very keen on it.

ILoveStickers · 16/06/2020 18:33

I like Una, not sure about Uma.

daisypond · 16/06/2020 18:28

How come people don’t know how it’s pronounced? Have you not heard of Uma Thurman? I’m not wildly keen on it, though.

whatausername · 16/06/2020 18:19

I'm go with Uma. It's unusual and sounds better with Molly. Penny/Molly have a very similar pattern.

Lavenderblues · 16/06/2020 15:09

How is it pronounced? You-mah or Ooh-mah? Or maybe Umma? Confused

grincheux · 16/06/2020 15:08

Uma, Una, Oonagh, all ugly sounding names to me personally - but it's your baby and one person's taste won't be another's! Congratulations ☺

abiirthdaycake · 16/06/2020 14:55

If you mean the alternative spelling of Úna it's Oonagh rather than Oogna.

I do actually prefer Úna to Uma, I associate Uma with Thurman too much

BlueVinca · 16/06/2020 13:58

I'm not keen. I like Penny

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2020 13:56

We could use the same argument for Isla Where does S come from.

PuppyMonkey · 16/06/2020 13:56

Oogna is much nicer? Hmm

Oonagh maybe...

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2020 13:54

Penny is lovely, btw
