...but please could you rank our top boys and girls names in order of preference (1 to 6)? Going to make a little spreadsheet and compare them by popularity (blame furlough boredom)! Such a good idea and I'm very curious to see the results!

I put Felix as no. 1 because I thought it was the most normal-sounding name. I knew a couple of Felixes about 30 yrs ago, so other than it seeming slightly feline, don't really have any opinion on it.

I don't like most of the names on either list.

I like Dorothy and Eve (ruined by popularity). I dislike Franklin and Theodore - too POTUS for me.

This is really interesting! Felix is on our list, I hadn’t realised it was such a marmite name. It really is either top or bottom of people’s lists. I know you’ve stopped but here’s my tuppence

@bluemoon2468 I wasn’t meaning it to come across as judgemental or nasty- I believe that some names immediately come across with certain celebrity, class, ethnic, or social connotations.

Just as some posters said they thought Felix reminded them of cat food, the most current, famous Idris at the moment happens to be Idris Elba. You are welcome to name a white child Idris, of course you are!?! You are welcome to name it Felix or Balonz if you so wish. I was just passing comment on a baby name thread inviting comments- please don’t read anything more into it than intended
