I have an Anna. Sometimes called Ann. Never Annie.
It is the best name ever.

DramaAlpaca · 16/06/2020 18:57

Anna

Annie or Anna are both lovely. Anna is so simple and yet so classic. Unappreciated name imo.

WhiteVixen · 16/06/2020 17:34

I’m an Anna and I like my name. My parents wanted a name that couldn’t really be shortened, so they’ve always said. Never really had a nickname at school or anything, but did get the odd ‘Anna Spanner’ etc.

Although now it looks odd having read it so many times on this thread...

Cabin · 16/06/2020 17:17

Anne. It would be refreshing and unusual now, but classic.

AnawithoneN · 16/06/2020 16:27

I’m an owner of the single letter version Wink and agree it’s a PITA. When people ask my name for important purposes, I don’t even say it, I just go A-N-A as it’s easier than Ana-with-one-n - when it’s not important Starbucks they can spell it how they like, I don’t care anymore Grin.

(I’m not British and was given the standard spelling in my home country.)

PaquitaVariation · 16/06/2020 16:26

I have an Anna, nickname Annie. Easy for them to learn to write too!

Bert2e · 16/06/2020 16:23

Anna, classic and a palindrome - what more could you want!

AnneShirleysNewDress · 16/06/2020 16:20

Well, my vote goes to Anne Grin

LilacSloth · 16/06/2020 16:17

Anna.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 16/06/2020 16:14

Anna.

midsomermurderess · 16/06/2020 16:10

And I agree that 'Ana' is over-complicating things. I get the impression that some posters thing it's refined to go for French/Spanish/Italian versions of names. It's a bit cringeworthy.

daisypond · 16/06/2020 16:10

Is Ana the name of one of the sisters in Frozen?

No, she is Anna, but with rather an odd pronunciation.

Pemba · 16/06/2020 16:09

Anna is beautiful and classic. My favourite name ever actually.

Annie is pretty and very sweet. Possibly a bit nicknamey as a standalone name?

Anne is classic and elegant but somehow seems a bit neutral and plain at the moment. It'll probably be in fashion again in a few years.

midsomermurderess · 16/06/2020 16:08

I'm rather fond of Anne which could then become Annie. It seems rather overlooked these days. I do like Anna too, but I I'm tired of 'ie', 'y' and 'a'-ending names.

Hippocampe · 16/06/2020 16:07

Anna

Wheresthebiffer2 · 16/06/2020 16:06

Is Ana the name of one of the sisters in Frozen? Could explain its popularity.

daisypond · 16/06/2020 16:05

Anna or Anne. Never Annie as a full name.

SoftBlocks · 16/06/2020 16:03

Anna.

MrsM36 · 16/06/2020 16:01

I'm a bit biased as it's my youngest daughter's name but I love Annie xx

Candyapple49 · 16/06/2020 16:01

My Anna is now a teenager and I still love it x

Victoria6386 · 16/06/2020 15:58

Annie, the others are quite boring

Panicmode1 · 16/06/2020 15:57

I hate my name which is one of those and only has one syllable Wink. Definitely chose a name with 2 syllables - it's easier for people to hear if you are shy (I speak from experience) and Anna or Annie are nicer.
