For upcoming DS. We will most likely shorten to Ted, Frank and Nick respectively. Middle name will be Peter. Which do people on here prefer? Thanks Smile

  1. Francis
  2. Nicholas
  3. Edward

But all good names.

Stripyhoglets1 · 15/06/2020 23:57

Edward - i chose it as can use Ed, Eddie, Ted, Teddy or Edward. So several versions of the name - most of which I liked.
It was no 80 in the charts when we chose it but is much more popular now!

Angel2702 · 15/06/2020 23:53

I love Nicholas but not keen on Nick.

Don’t like Francis but love Frank.

123Dancewithme · 15/06/2020 23:52

Nicholas and Francis are great. Edward/Ted/Teddy are too popular.

Sdoo4 · 15/06/2020 23:07

My OH is a Francis, I hated his name when I first met him. He gets called Francie rather thank Franky/Frankie

AnnaSW1 · 15/06/2020 22:47

Edward. I really dislike the other two

Harvey3 · 15/06/2020 22:45

Edward

DanniArthur · 15/06/2020 22:34

My favourite from your list is definitely Nicholas

Jen02041994 · 15/06/2020 22:29

@ZoyaTheDestroyer from what people are saying on here it seems a lot more popular than I had realised.

@MojoJojo71 holy s*, I see what you mean about Nicholas/Knickerless 😂. And Franklin is quite nice, I don’t know how I hadn’t thought of that before if I was thinking of Frank Confused

@formerbabe I think it’s related to the two guys named Francis I know from real life - they both carry themselves in a very masculine, assertive way but still remain polite and courteous.

Edward

mintich · 15/06/2020 22:20

Nicholas/Nick

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 15/06/2020 22:17

If popularity is an issue then you should know that there are a lot of Teds and Teddies around at the moment, both Edwards and Theodores.

Love both Francis and Nicholas. Nicky is sweet for a little boy.

MojoJojo71 · 15/06/2020 22:17

I like Nick but Nicholas always make me think of Knickerless.

Edward is nice but Ted is very popular around here at the moment.

I love Frank but don’t like Francis, how about Franklin instead?

lakeswimmer · 15/06/2020 22:13

I love Nick and Edward (prefer Ned for short). I know a couple of younger Edwards but no younger Nicks.

shreddednips · 15/06/2020 22:06

I have an Edward who goes by Ted! So I'm biased, but that's my favourite Grin

Kittymitty38 · 15/06/2020 22:05

Edward is my favorite but it is common now! Xx

formerbabe · 15/06/2020 22:03

So interesting how we see names differently. I imagine a Francis as a bit of a drip, definitely not alpha male

Jen02041994 · 15/06/2020 21:43

@toastofthetown no that’s fine, thanks for sharing! Most of the Edwards I know, whether they go by Ed, Ted or Eddie are in their late 20s, more so 30s and 40s. I have a worked as a nursery teacher for four years since my graduation - and have never come across an Edward before, ever. This may be what skewed my perception of the popularity of the name nowadays, but I will bear what you said in mind Smile

I've got a Nicholas, it's a great name

toastofthetown · 15/06/2020 21:36

Just because you said that you like the fact that they are not used as much now, Edward is currently at 24 in the boys names charts. Not sure if that's high enough to bother you - but worth knowing. Teddy is also popular, as is Theodore (though would expect that most Theodores use Theo as a nickname) so Ted probably would blend right in a classroom.

kenandbarbie · 15/06/2020 21:35

Edward

Chickoletta · 15/06/2020 21:34

Not keen on Francis but love Edward/Ted and really like Nicholas/Nick.

Azure83 · 15/06/2020 21:33

We have a Francis nn Frankie so I'm obviously biased but I love the name. We use both versions (he's 3) and they both suit him. I don't like Frank, seems more American to me. There seems to be a lot of Freddies around here but we've only met one other Frankie.
I really like Edward as well but it's a mouthful with our surname.
