For upcoming DS. We will most likely shorten to Ted, Frank and Nick respectively. Middle name will be Peter. Which do people on here prefer? Thanks Smile

Love Peter
I'd go with Edward
The Nicks I know said it's annoying they're name rhymes with a rude word

flooredbored · 18/07/2020 09:47

Nicholas. I know quite a few young Edwards. I love Peter.

Harvey3 · 16/07/2020 20:37

I like Edward best

thegreylady · 27/06/2020 00:09

I also have a 16 yo dgs called Francis always known as Frank.

thegreylady · 27/06/2020 00:08

My 11 year old grandson is Edward. He insists on Ed because it is short to write. He is very proud of having the only two letter name in his class!

GnomeoNameo · 26/06/2020 21:24

I like Edward best but there aren't enough Francis's and Nicholas's in the world at the moment - I'd go with Nicholas.

Alwaysundecided · 26/06/2020 20:46

Edward is my fave and Francis is OK, but not Nicholas.
I think Nicholas is very dated at the moment as most Nicks are in the 40's plus.
I'm all for choosing names that aren't rampantly popular but from the perspective of a child, noone wants a 'dad' name or a 'mum' name.

Thistlegirl4 · 26/06/2020 18:34

Edward definitely not a fan of the other two.

Whatsyourflava · 26/06/2020 14:23

Did you make a decision @Jen02041994

MikeUniformMike · 26/06/2020 14:19

Nicholas. Francis as a middle name.

resm · 26/06/2020 01:01

Nicholas is the best, I think. I know of a little Nicholas (under 5) and he really suits his name. He doesn’t get Nick, but probably will when older.

helpasisout · 26/06/2020 00:14

love Edward and Francis

zingally · 21/06/2020 20:10

None of them honestly. But if I had to pick, Nicholas is the best of them.

HansBanans · 21/06/2020 17:05

I like Nicholas and Edward. Whenever I hear Francis I think of Deadpool, sorry 🙈

Flappingflamingo · 21/06/2020 16:48

My order of preference
Edward
Nicholas
Francis
I know Francis is a boys name but to me it just sounds too femine 😕

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/06/2020 16:36

I know alot of Edwards born recently and whilst I quite like Ted, with all the Theodore's nn Ted /Teddy too I would personally avoid

I like Francis alot, but dislike Frank

Love Nicholas. I only know one whose a toddler, he goes by Nicky which is cute on him at this age

Ontopofthesunset · 20/06/2020 20:00

Two of these with the abbreviations are my sons' names. But I won't tell you which. Obviously I think you have excellent taste.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/06/2020 19:54

Edward is really lovely.

Nicholas is my least favourite boys name ever. I can't bear it. Sounds impossibly prim.

mathanxiety · 20/06/2020 19:40

What great names! I love Peter too.

I agree 100% with you @Jen02041994 on names you would put in the 'wet' category.

For my money, the choice would be between Francis or Nicholas.
It's hard to choose. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Maybe Nicholas has the edge? I love the NN Nick, and also Nicky.
But I also love Francis, and Frank and Frankie...

I wouldn't be out off by 'knickerless'. Some NNs are used as terms of endearment. Certainly the NN 'knickers' was used affectionately for the Nicola-s I went to school with.

SumAndSubstance · 20/06/2020 19:31

Edward is still quite common and Ted is especially so. (I am a teacher and have small children) Plus I hate Ted. I like Francis, but not Frank. I like Nicholas and Nick, so Nick!

Angelonia · 16/06/2020 18:17

Edward

vintageyoda · 16/06/2020 18:12

I have a teenage Edward know as Ted that used to be known as Teddy as a youngster. I know an Edward nicknamed Ned too. I felt it was versatile and allowed for a grown up name when needed.

Pleasenodont · 16/06/2020 08:39

Edward. Francis is an old man or woman to me and Nicholas is a middle aged man who goes by Nick.

worstwitch18 · 16/06/2020 00:49

Alpha male....?!

I like all three names. Which is not helpful I know!
