Is this seen as weird or perfectly acceptable? We both like this name and do think it would work. Thanks Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@IckleBear I would agree with that - it would just be very confusing to most people imo.

Is it your DH who wanted this?

Why not give your DS his very own name?

Alice12041994 · 14/06/2020 17:31

@CaptainMyCaptain interesting, I think most first/middle names in our family were just drawn up out of thin air and not really tied to any other family member tbh.

@Hushabusha quite a lot of people know it’s his middle name actually, people in our family and his friend circles must have a very good memory 😂

It's fine, fairly normal

bogoblin · 14/06/2020 16:51

Totally normal. I'd do it but I don't like his middle name so I'm not

CoronaIsComing · 14/06/2020 16:45

My DH has his Dad’s name but swapped around so if one is John Richard the other would be Richard John.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/06/2020 16:42

It used to be not uncommon to have dad's first name for eldest boy and mum's first name for eldest girl. My aunty's family were like this they had John and young John. Mary and young Mary. It used to be very common to hand down family names including a middle name. In previous generations of my Dad's family the mother's unmarried surname was passed on as a middle name to one girl or boy in the family but they were generally quite suitable. My Mum's surname wouldn't have been.

MargotB7 · 14/06/2020 16:38

Not weird at all.

maddymellow · 14/06/2020 16:36

I know a few examples. It’s fine!

Hushabusha · 14/06/2020 15:31

Who would even know what the father's middle name is apart from you two and his parents?!

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2020 15:30

It's fine. What matters is that you both like it.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 14/06/2020 15:28

We’ve done that. Go for it!

sweetnosugar · 14/06/2020 15:28

It’s perfectly fine OP

WisestIsShe · 14/06/2020 15:26

I think it's fine too

Wigeon · 14/06/2020 15:23

I was going to be called my dad’s middle name, if I’d been a boy (although I haven’t actually got my mum’s middle name). I think it’s fine and quite nice to have a family reason for the name.

IckleBear · 14/06/2020 15:20

I think it's fine, only weird if the dad's first name is used as first name for baby.
