What do you think to the girls name Isla Soleil?
Means Island Sun.
Surname is Football, so the people of mumsnet have said I can't really use Summer. As it would be Summer Football.

Thanks Smile

@Cindie943811A My son is Noah Football and that is only two syllables. So I don't agree

If you like lots of L's in your names how about Leilani Ball. Rolls off the tongue easily and it still has a sunny vibe - it means heavenly flower in Hawaiian. In fact some of the syllables sound the same - lei - Soleil and la - Isla Grin

I’m sorry but Isla doesn’t go with Ball. I think you need a first name with at least 3 syllables. I knew a Barbara Ball which is a nicely balanced name. I’m not suggesting you use Barbara but just using that as an example.
Plenty of good longer names
Alexandra
Clementine
Serena
Etc

Supermarket own-brand SPF. Sorry.

Also don’t think Isla goes with your surname- it’s not an easy surname to work with in fairness!

percheron67 · 14/06/2020 19:42

Sounds like a sun protection cream!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 14/06/2020 19:38

Is there any particular reason to use a French word in the child's name? It's not even a French name, just a word., which is a bit weird imo.

genie10 · 14/06/2020 18:23

Sounds like a hotel

Notredamn · 14/06/2020 17:46

Why do you want to call your child Island Sun, though? (Many people will struggle with the correct pronunciation of soleil as well).

BaronessBomburst · 14/06/2020 16:21

It's a mouthful!

wowfudge · 14/06/2020 16:18

Sounds like an all inclusive resort.

StayAlert · 14/06/2020 16:16

Isla soleil sounds like a Spanish holiday resort!

Both lovely names individually but not together imho.

Fifthtimelucky · 14/06/2020 16:13

I agree with the sunscreen comment. Isla Soleil reminds me of Ambre Solaire.

AdaColeman · 14/06/2020 15:56

Sounds like a Club Med holiday destination!

LotusClover · 14/06/2020 15:50

Isla definitely goes better with the surname than Summer and Arabella, but it still doesn't feel quite right somehow. Isla Soleil does sound like a holiday resort to me. The whole name doesn't flow nicely either - Isla Soleil Ball is a bit of a mouthful.

IckleBear · 14/06/2020 15:22

Isla Ball doesn't sound good!
It's like I love ball (s)

Twickerhun · 14/06/2020 15:20

Not sure Isla works with your last name either.

BessMarvin · 14/06/2020 15:17

Isla is a nice name if you're happy with the fact that it is so popular.

daisypond · 14/06/2020 15:12

Sunna is Norse goddess of the sun. That would be better than Soleil - which is masculine.

Purpleandteal · 14/06/2020 14:56

Soleil is masculine in French for that reason it's ano from me

Scruffbob · 14/06/2020 14:53

I think it's pretty but unfortunately my first thought was a European holiday park.

SoftBlocks · 14/06/2020 14:52

I like Soleil and you can have Sol as non. There’s an actress called Soleil Moon Fry isn’t there? I’m not keen on Isla though.

fluffiphlox · 14/06/2020 14:48

I think I stayed in the Isla Soleil once. Two-star sort of place.

ParsleyPot · 14/06/2020 14:47

Just no

Nishky · 14/06/2020 14:46

Another one who thinks Isla Soleil sounds like a suntan lotion. Sorry

daisypond · 14/06/2020 14:46

I agree with PP. Sunscreen, cocktail, holiday resort. I’m not sure about Isla with your surname.
