What do you think to the girls name Isla Soleil?
Means Island Sun.
Surname is Football, so the people of mumsnet have said I can't really use Summer. As it would be Summer Football.

Thanks Smile

Noah Ball is very close to No ball

You could use a different summery middle name, but with the first name and surname it will probably sound like a mediterranean party

LeslieD816 · 30/11/2021 20:25

That’s my 11 year old daughters name so I obviously love it! Lol

AcrobaticCardigan · 15/06/2020 23:53

Sounds like a joke name! Sounds like a sun lotion brand!

wowfudge · 15/06/2020 15:25

That's a very good point re: 👁️

nubeejinnings · 15/06/2020 14:43

If your last name is ball surely you don't want to give a child I ball as in eye ball?

BillysMyBunny · 15/06/2020 14:33

Isla is nice but not with the middle name Soleil. I agree with everyone saying it sounds like a holiday resort.

I also think Isla Soleil Ball is a bit of a mouthful and that it can sort of merge into saying ‘Isla-sleigh ball’ which sounds weird and makes me think of reindeer testes at worse or some sort of Christmas high school dance at best.

AnnaSW1 · 15/06/2020 14:33

Sounds like a cheap hotel

TheHobbitMum · 15/06/2020 14:29

It sounds like the next island to have a failed a theme park and an uncontrollable outbreak of Dinosaurs 🦕

FelicityPike · 15/06/2020 14:08

@ItsGoingTibiaK

I love that episode of Benidorm when they organise the Isla Soleil Ball As a special theme night but one of them gets drunk and ruins it, with hilarious results.
Ahh poop

peachypetite · 15/06/2020 14:00

Honestly really random. What’s the thought process behind it?

Haffdonga · 15/06/2020 13:58

Soleil as in the French for sun? How are you pronouncing that? Do you speak French or have a connection with France otherwise it seems a bit random choosing a word out of another language and plonking it with Isla which is not French. You'll get a lot of mispronunciation and mis-spelling, as on this thread already.

If you wanted her name to mean Island Sun it would need to be Ile de Soleil

flamingochill · 15/06/2020 13:58

It makes me think Sunscreen too.

I think of Daisy as a summer name (you don't get daisies in winter)

Marisol is the only summery name I can think of

beelola · 15/06/2020 13:49

Another vote for suncream

Councilworker · 15/06/2020 13:48

I Ball? I'm not usually one who reaches for "ooh it sounds like" but you're proposing calling your daughter Eyeball.

cocopops · 15/06/2020 13:44

Sounds like a drag queen.

FelicityPike · 15/06/2020 13:23

No one outside of the immediate family will know her middle name anyway. It’s only ever used on paperwork really.
Isla Ball isn’t the nicest....but it’s your choice.
Scots & French do have the “auld alliance” I suppose.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 15/06/2020 13:18

Sunscreen for sure and Isla Ball isn’t good either, sorry

emmathedilemma · 15/06/2020 13:16

Sounds like a cheap Benidorm hotel. Isla Ball isn't great either.

SpringSpringTime · 15/06/2020 10:26

Juno? Freya?

OllyBJolly · 15/06/2020 10:25

Sunna is Norse goddess of the sun

@daisypond You have reminded me of one of my favourite names- Sunniva - Viking name for gift from the sun. Always thought it was beautiful.

You can’t really have anything resembling an adjective can you...I was going to suggest Skye for a summery feel, or Indigo, but then it just looks like you’re talking about a blue ball

SpringSpringTime · 15/06/2020 10:20

Not keen at all!

Ball is a tricky surname isn’t it! Isla really doesn’t go imho-too many ell sounds.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 15/06/2020 10:15

Sounds like the name of a Caribbean Cruise ship.
