Summer baby named Winter?

CherryCreme · 13/06/2020 19:38

So, just that really. I love the name Winter/Wynter (not sure which spelling) with Winnie being a NN. My baby girl is due mid August.

Are all children named April/Autumn/Summer/June born in these months or seasons? Am I setting myself up for "oh was she born in the winter"?

Am I going crazy trying to decide on a name? 😂

Congratulations @CherryCreme - beautiful name choice and thank you for the update!

Winter is totally fine any time of the year but glad you've found a name you're 100% happy with all the same! Maybe next time you'll have a winter baby xx

itsjakeandamy · 22/09/2020 14:42

I love Winter. I don't think it is relevant when she's born. None of the Summers I know (a name I really am less keen on) were born in summer time.

Auto · 22/09/2020 08:49

I think it's fine.

sashh · 22/09/2020 07:10

Congratulations OP

I was coming on to say I was at uni with a Summer, her birthday was in November. Her mum gave birth on a wintery, rainy day and wanted a name that didn't reflect that.

CherryCreme · 22/09/2020 06:43

We chose the name Piper in the end! She definitely doesn't look like a "Winter" Smile it was her being born in August that put us off the name

Why not? I know a winter born Summer. And a june born April.

Mynameisntsarah · 21/09/2020 23:04

Please update what name you chose, congratulations BTW xx

Swale · 21/09/2020 22:52

@LisaSimpsonsbff

I would definitely assume April, June, Holly, Winter and Summer were born in April, June, December, Winter and Summer but I would just think it was mildly surprising if they weren't, I wouldn't think it was silly.
I’m Holly and not born in December! I know another Holly also not born in December.
midsomermurderess · 20/09/2020 19:48

Don't use the 'Y' spelling. She will forever be the girl with the illiterate mother.

badg3r · 20/09/2020 18:04

I don't think there is anything wrong with it but you need to decide if you will be bothered by people thinking she is a winter baby. I met a mum of a Summer who was born in October and she was almost apologetic when she told me. I felt sorry for her, seeing her look uncomfortable, since it is a lovely name too. Similarly, people might presume she is named after month of conception.

Feminist10101 · 20/09/2020 13:02

I know a Summer that was born in February. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TwizzledTurkey · 20/09/2020 12:58

Winter is coming

FluffyEggsontoast · 20/09/2020 12:33

@nevergoingoutagain baby has been born already

Looking forward to hearing the chosen name @CherryCreme 💐

nevergoingoutagain · 20/09/2020 11:44

My daughters middle name is Winter. She was born in December but would still have had that as a middle name anyway as it's a family name. I'm not sure I'd use it as a first name in summer but maybe a middle name. I would have loved it as a first name tbh but didn't really suit with my older girls names.

Oh and I'd go with the proper spelling. At least everyone will know how to spell it!

len1234 · 20/09/2020 11:30

Winter is such a beautiful name! It doesn't matter what season baby is born in.

zigaziga · 20/09/2020 10:31

Ah sorry, Zombie thread and congratulations!!

zigaziga · 20/09/2020 10:30

I do like Winter/ Winnie although I wouldn’t use it myself.
Wynter is horrific.

micc · 20/09/2020 10:18

I know a baby called Summer who was born in January 🤷🏼‍♀️
I didnt think twice about it :)

FluffyEggsontoast · 20/09/2020 10:00

Oh wow seen the update! Congratulations! What did you pick @CherryCreme

FluffyEggsontoast · 20/09/2020 09:59

Winter is really lovely - one of my favourite names

Doesn't matter when born. I know lots of June's who I assume weren't born in June (it's never really crossed my mind til now about the name being a month)

Winnie is a great nickname too

BabyLlamaZen · 20/09/2020 09:58

@CherryCreme

Update, our little girl was born a month ago but we didn't choose the name Winter!
Ooh what did you choose?

Summer is also gorgeous!

And you couldve pretended and was Australian I guess!

BabyLlamaZen · 20/09/2020 09:58

I knew an Autumn born in January and as awful as this sounds I can't help but think it sounds a bit un-classy. Like it suddenly becomes meaningless? She should've been called Winter imo. 😅

My best friends second DD was born in April and she has named her winter. I like it, again like others have said use whatever you want, you don't need to seek approval from anyone.

Odd.
