Hello

I want RARE girl name (doesn't have to be trendy) that sounds or looks

  • sophisticated
  • educated
  • relatively strong
  • a bit literary maybe
  • beautiful (I mean the spelling)
  • it's OK if it's a bit hard to pronounce (and spell)

please give me some name suggestions!

Here are some of my favorites

  1. Joyzelle (JOY-zelle)
  2. Aoife (EE-fa)
  3. Leontyne/Leontine (lay-ON-teen)
  • I'll call her Leo as a nickname
4) Faustina (FAU-s-TINA)
  • nickname - Tina
5) Louella/Luella (loo-WELL-la) 6) Rosalind (ROSE-a-lind) 7) Rosamond/Rosamund (ROSE-a-mond) 8) Amaryllis (am-muh-REEL-lis) 9) Cassiopeia (kass-ee-OH-pi-ah)
  • nickname Cassie

You'd pronounce Rosalind, Rosamund? Really?

Bouncingbelle · 13/06/2020 23:41

Rosalind is lovely from your list (tho I would pronounce it Roz-amund)

Some dreadful suggestions.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/06/2020 17:30

Why is everyone suggesting Ottillie? The UK is literally teeming with them.

My suggestion: Santa

I quite like Berengaria, wife of Richard I. Definitely unusual. I've never met one and never heard of another one.

inappropriateraspberry · 13/06/2020 15:17

Also, Cassiopeia has the emphasis on the pi sound, not the oh. Cass-ee-oh-PEE-ah

I actually know of an Araminta!! She goes by Minty. Not my cup of tea but obviously someone else's!

turnthebiglightoff · 13/06/2020 11:13

Pandemia is looking good. Surely Araminta isn't a name? Some of these are just horrific. I stand by my plain names. Nowt wrong with molly or sarah.
