Thoughts on Callie or Aggie?

They’re not our definitive top two so it’s not one or the other, but I wondered what people thought of both of them? Callie as it is and Agatha shortened to Aggie.

We already have a DD called Nell.

No to Aggie!

Callie is ok.

june2007 · 13/06/2020 00:06

Prefer Calista. (Callie) and Agatha.

BeMorePacific · 13/06/2020 00:01

Aggie = Argumentative where I live.
Callie is nice x

TempsPerdu · 12/06/2020 23:26

Aggie is dreadful. Callie is fine, if a bit bland.

JacobReesMogadishu · 12/06/2020 23:14

Calista or Calliope would be nice names which could be shortened to Callie if you did reconstruction having a more formal name for Callie.

How about Nancy? Goes well with Nell. Or Harriet?

Poppyfields21 · 12/06/2020 23:07

Have you considered Cora?

mam0918 · 12/06/2020 20:10

Aggie is pretty bad but Callie is cute, I prefer it as a nickname though for names like Calliope or Calista

louderthan1 · 12/06/2020 19:11

OTOH Nell is the name of of one of my favourite people in the world. Short for Helen.

louderthan1 · 12/06/2020 19:09

Please don't call a child Aggie.
Agony, aggravating. No.

villainousbroodmare · 12/06/2020 19:07

Nell is beautiful. Imo Callie is meh, kind of bland and pointless, and Aggie is probably the ugliest female name possible. Agatha is very little better.

WinnieWonder · 12/06/2020 19:07

I like Maggie but Aggie is so ugly. I don't like Agatha much either, - saint is hanging there in the air before it.

Callie I like a lot more.

Quizeerascal · 12/06/2020 19:03

I think Agnes and Nell go well together. I'm not that on Aggie and although I do Agatha Christie I can't quite see Agatha on a little girl although perhaps its due a revival

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/06/2020 19:02

I love Agatha nn Aggie (also live Agnes) and think both would be lovely with Nell

I like Callie, but don't like Callista so wouldn't use it myself as it's too nicknamey for my tastes, but since Dd1 is Nell I'm guessing that doesn't bother you

emmathedilemma · 12/06/2020 18:49

I know an Aggie but I can't remember what it's shortened from, she's always Aggie but I assume agatha. I actually quite like it. I'm less keen on Callie, makes me think of Caledonian thistle football team and I think it needs to be a nn for something.

AgnesNaismith · 12/06/2020 18:40

Agnes or Calinda

Never Aggie

Thenextplateau · 12/06/2020 18:40

Agatha is OK but I really don't like it shortened to Aggie. It sounds very much like a grumpy old women. Callie is lovely though.

mrs87 · 12/06/2020 18:35

Prefer Agnes to Agatha as full name for Aggie! But I like both Callie and Aggie. Does Nell get called Nellie? As Callie and Nellie might be quite similar if so.

halcyondays · 12/06/2020 18:02

Definitely Callie
Aggie is awful

Sojo88 · 12/06/2020 18:01

I much prefer Callie

Marlena1 · 12/06/2020 17:59

Love Callie (regret not calling DD1 this a bit).

Greenlasagne · 12/06/2020 17:57

See I really like Aggie, but had a strong suspicion others might feel differently Grin I was right!

.. "And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when holding you?"

Sorry I am partial. I was born the year it was in the charts and my middle name is Caroline.

Crystaltree · 12/06/2020 17:55

What about Caroline. Then you can sing Sweet Caroline to her.

Pemba · 12/06/2020 17:50

What namechange just said. Aggie is so harsh, and a bit of a joke name.

NameChange09876 · 12/06/2020 17:42

*strongly dislike Aggie
