Thoughts on Callie or Aggie?

They’re not our definitive top two so it’s not one or the other, but I wondered what people thought of both of them? Callie as it is and Agatha shortened to Aggie.

We already have a DD called Nell.

Callie if you must, but it really does sound like a nickname. Calliope/Caroline?

I quite like the Swedish name Agnetha (with Annie as a nickname. Not Aggie! There really is not one single nice thing about the name "Aggie.")

Edwardette · 14/06/2020 12:11

Caggie

fantasmasgoria1 · 13/06/2020 20:25

Callie is nice, aggie however is not!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 13/06/2020 20:20

Callie is a calm, pretty name.
Aggie - horrid, hag-like, Angry

ProperVexed · 13/06/2020 19:58

Love Callie.....but only if it is short for Calliope.
Agatha is lovely, Aggie less so. The second Mrs Campbell- Black in Jilly Cooper's Riders was called Agatha...but Taggie for short. ( must read that book again...I luff Rupert)

Haffdonga · 13/06/2020 19:36

Aggie is just a hard and harsh sound. It sounds like ugly, naggy and agony. Ag is the noise made when you're gagging, vomiting or screaming - Aggghh!

Callie is lovely. Smile

SingingSands · 13/06/2020 19:27

Aggie is a pretty awful name. I only know one and she's a dog, not a human.

Jj2431 · 13/06/2020 19:13

Callie. Aggie is horrid

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 13/06/2020 18:49

Agnes in full or Agatha but shorten it to Taggie in Jilly Cooper fashion. I adore that.

CodenameVillanelle · 13/06/2020 18:45

Aggie means aggressive/rude where I'm from!

SoberCurious · 13/06/2020 17:50

Goldie?

SoberCurious · 13/06/2020 17:49

Callie just makes me think of California.

SoberCurious · 13/06/2020 17:49

What about:

Casey
Polly
Alexa / Lexie
Lilly
Nancy
Maddy / Madeleine
Amy / Aimee
Frankie / Francesca
Billie

???

SoberCurious · 13/06/2020 17:46

Aggie sounds like she is being aggressive. Or that woman who does the cleaning show. Just no!!!!

BadAlice · 13/06/2020 17:30

I love Aggie! Agatha or Agnes are really lovely.

I’m not enamoured with Callie but it’s fine.

blosstree · 13/06/2020 17:07

I don't like either - I don't think Aggie is a nice sound

Callie - I know about 10 dogs called Callie so it's a dog name for me

LotusClover · 13/06/2020 13:02

Don't like Aggie at all, and I did think of "aggy" (slang/short for "aggravated"). But personally I really dislike Nell too.

Callie is lovely, but I'm not sure how well is goes with Nell.

babynamelover · 13/06/2020 12:18

I really like Aggie it's sweet. Nell and Aggie are lovely. Callie is okay makes me think of Kelly which feels quite dated whereas Aggie feels like cool vintage 😍.

WhyDoesItAlways · 13/06/2020 11:52

We were going to have a Calliope shortened to Callie but ended up with a boy.

Don't like Aggie - reminds me of Kim and Aggie and I never even watched the show.

midnightstar66 · 13/06/2020 11:47

Aggie is used as an abbreviation for aggressive or agitated here. It's not a nice sound anyway imo. Callie is a lovely name with a lovely meaning but not sure it sits well with Nell

Bigearringsbigsmile · 13/06/2020 11:40

Really ugly names

Jakc · 13/06/2020 11:39

Aggie means grumpy where I live

123Dancewithme · 13/06/2020 11:00

Aggie goes better with Nell. Nell and Callie sound too similar.

GinWithRosie · 13/06/2020 00:24

Callie is lovely 💓 and would use Calliope as her full name. I like Aggie too...although I actually prefer Agatha and probably wouldn't shorten that at all, although I'm sure others would.

bridgetreilly · 13/06/2020 00:19

I love Agatha (and Agnes) but I would probably go for Taggie, not Aggie.

But if you love Aggie, what does it matter what other people think?
