Is it naff? I think it sounds so pretty but I'm concerned that it sounds a bit naff. Any ideas on nicknames?

Really lovely name!! I don't think it's Naff at all

You might also like Clementine (clemmie) Felicity Aria Cleo Aurora or Cora

Too frilly for me and too similar to Aurora, Amelia, Ariella, ...

I love it. It was in my list but narrowly missed out because I don’t think it “flows” so well in english.

I was going to use Lia as a nickname, but have heard Riri as well which I like.

I have friends who would pronounce it ow- re-lia as well as Aw-re-lia

Lovey name really pretty and feminine. Was one of the characters in the film Love Actually called it? Love the film too

cherrypiepie · 12/06/2020 11:57

I like it too.

I would pronounce it or-ree-lee-a I think. Rather than or-ray-lee-a.

I love it!
Such a pretty name

I think Aurelia is a beautiful name. I don't know what you mean by naff, but it's a very feminine, "princessy" type name with a lot of liquid consonants meaning it fits perfectly into today's naming trends. Despite that, and disliking many names which fit into those descriptors, I love Aurelia.

Aurelia is rising sharply in popularity and there have been at least four Aurelia name threads over the last couple of months which indicates that it's rate of popularity increase may be rising - but there's no way to know that until the data is released in a couple of years time. I don't know if that bothers you - and there are positives to popularity such as spelling and pronunciation becomes less of an issue.

It's becoming really popular and I still don't know how to pronounce it. I prefer Amelie or Arabella.
