Three syllable boy’s names

We’re leaning towards a one syllable first name and we have a one syllable surname. I think a three syllable middle name flows best. Any suggestions?

Middle names are not used very often and I Usually prefer two or three syllable first names if you have a one syllable surname. I can see a long sounding one syllable name would work as well.

Lysander is a great name and I think if you love it you will regret not using It for a middle name.

Soloman is a great name

Thanks all, lots of great suggestions here.

I agree short first and surnames don’t always work. However I think the one syllable first name we like and our surname go together quite well because they are very different sounds. The first name has a long vowel sound in it, which helps.

Oh dear - they sound so unstarry!

I agree. Personally a one syllable middle and surname and 3/4 syllable Christian name (can shorten if you wish or dc wishes) as you don't use middle names.

Plus you get

Dadada da da

Opposed to

Da dadada da

Or will will be used

Da da (which is you use long Christian name is maybe what you'll get anyway but you then don't use a middle name you'd have liked for a first name iyswim?)

So if you like Lysander.

Lysander Max Smith
Sebastian John Jones

puppi has a point. One of the reasons I like my married name is that it is two syllables, I had a one syllable surname and a one syllable first name and it has always bothered me. My name has no natural shortened version or nickname.

Puppilangstrumpfi · 09/06/2020 15:30

Are you sure that a one syllable first name goes with your one syllable surname?

You never ever use middle names...!

Lysander is my guilty pleasure name! I’d like to use it for a first name but not sure I’d have the guts too and fairly sure DH wouldn’t go for it even as a middle name. One day, I’ll name a pet Lysander!
