Can I?

I'm struggling so much with boys names. Percy has a really lovely family meaning to me and I love it. But is it due a comeback or just no?

Percy is such a wet name. Wet and twee.

Whatsyourflava · 07/06/2020 13:06

It's a great name and yes it's not only "due a comeback" it's already coming back! Over the last ten years it's jumped from number 850 in the charts to number 399.

By the way if you look back a few years on Mumsnet the forum was horrified by the names Ralph and Albert - both are now top 100 and totally mainstream

JudyGemstone · 07/06/2020 13:04

If you're relatively posh you could get away with it but it's not a great name imo, bit twee sounding

mamaoffourdc · 07/06/2020 11:51

I know a 3 year old Percy - very cute

JoeExoticsPrinceAlbert · 07/06/2020 11:49

It reminds me of that absolute wanker that was in the green mile.Sorry.

littlemeitslyn · 07/06/2020 11:45

No need for foul language

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 07/06/2020 11:43

I think it's a lovely name.
My brother and SIL called their daughter Percy, it really suits her, but I've always associated it with boys.
If you like it, go for it.

A mixed response then. It's so tricky. I don't like any boys names.

Weirdly I like Persephone with Percy as a nickname for a girl but don't like it on a boy.

user1493494961 · 07/06/2020 11:30

It's a penis.

babynamelover · 07/06/2020 01:09

Maybe Percival nn Percy?

OnABeachSomewhere · 07/06/2020 01:08

Not a good idea.

Rubybluesy · 07/06/2020 01:03

Pig?
No way

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 07/06/2020 01:03

Not unless you are giving birth to a 75 year old with his own allotment. Please, no

GrumpyHoonMain · 07/06/2020 01:02

No

PetraRabbit · 07/06/2020 01:01

RoseMartha · 07/06/2020 00:57

richele4 · 07/06/2020 00:49

Pig?
No.

SionnachRua · 07/06/2020 00:37

Percy pigs are great.
On anything other than a farm animal it's woeful. So wet, meek and wimpy.

123Dancewithme · 07/06/2020 00:36

I quite like it!

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 07/06/2020 00:24

No I definitely wouldn't

Cheesypea · 07/06/2020 00:23
