This has made it to our top two names, but I’m still not convinced I love it enough (although feel that way about every single boy’s name tbh). I think it’s a strong name that’s quite underused and I’ve never met one. I sense it might be a bit marmite.

Thoughts? What does it make you think of? The bible? The OC?

I had it on the shortlist but DH strongly vetoed

I think it's a lovely name but I think it is quite marmitey....

whichteaareyou · 02/06/2020 22:13

I love it. What's your other option for a name?

JuneJuly · 02/06/2020 22:09

I think of it as a rural/farming community name.
There is one in my dd's yr6 class.
An ok & not commonly used name.

BalloonSlayer · 02/06/2020 21:44

I have always liked the sound of it but don't like that the biblical character was only born because one of his older brothers killed the other one.

Well you did ask!

I also rejected the name Jacob for similar reasons, if means "supplanter" and the bible character stole his older brother's birthright. Although he came right in the end.

I am also always a bit dubious about the names of negative biblical characters being used, like Saul, Leah etc.

FawnDrench · 02/06/2020 21:37

It's a really lovely name.

thirstyformore · 02/06/2020 21:36

Love it

BergamotMouse · 02/06/2020 21:29

I like it. My 4 year old goes to nursery with a Seth. Took me a while to figure out who she was talking about today as she can't pronounce 'th' easily so kept calling him Ses. But once I worked it out I thought 'that's a nice name'

123Dancewithme · 02/06/2020 21:24

Lovely

Notso · 02/06/2020 21:21

I love Seth it's a fab name:

mondler · 02/06/2020 20:17

I love it! Would have used but it rhymes with my name.

clpsmum · 02/06/2020 20:07

I loooooove it

VisionQuest · 02/06/2020 20:06

I like it, but I don't think I'd use it and I can't explain why. Sorry not very helpful

Glittercandle · 02/06/2020 20:04

I really don’t like it , along with Saul. Not really sure why.

RainbowFlowers · 02/06/2020 20:02

I really like it because its unusual but the sound is normal.

DramaAlpaca · 02/06/2020 20:00

You're going to think I'm weird but it makes me think of snakes. To me it's a lispy, slithery, shuddery name with an unpleasant sound. Sorry!

Gallacia · 02/06/2020 19:56

I like it because of Seth from the OC

finallychangedmyusername · 02/06/2020 19:52

Excellent name. Joel and Luke feel similar to me (biblical, one syllable).

Alwaysundecided · 02/06/2020 19:49

I really like it. I've never met one. DH wouldn't even consider it though.

happytoday73 · 02/06/2020 19:48

I know 3.. All close friends/relatives rather than school env.. One is 8, another 5, final one 2. I'm in NW England.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 02/06/2020 19:48

I like it but all DH's family would say Seff (proper East Londoners!) which would have driven me mad.

Rubiales678 · 02/06/2020 19:46

I love it and would use it if hubby agreed . As a teacher I've never taught one and for me I like the biblical reference. It's unusual but doesn't have an unusual sound to it.

kenandbarbie · 02/06/2020 19:43

I like it a lot

ittybittylivingspace · 02/06/2020 19:30

Makes me think of the OC, tv show. Not a bad association! It's one of my fave boy names too

Floralnomad · 02/06/2020 19:27

Lovely .

Butterbeeeen · 02/06/2020 19:26

I have one OP. I think it's a lovely name and not commonly used. My Seth is 11 for context.
