What 3 Girls names wouldn't you choose?

I have 1&2 year old Dds and very rarely see their names suggested on here....Dd2s name has started to appear but only once I've spotted Dd1s...!
What names wouldn't you choose and why?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Taddda · 02/06/2020 19:06

Well that's all 4 of both my Dd's names getting a mention, plus choices 2 & 3....! Been reading this like baby name bingo!

I think they're lovely though, no-one actually said 'eww' at them, just too popular....except her second name which got a 'dull' vote! (Although my original choice for Dd1 still not been said- I don't think it would have been liked though, seeing as though I like quite alot of the names mentioned!)

Except Ethel....

Terri, Toni, Rae. Not for me!

whatacircus89 · 02/06/2020 17:24

Oops. Didn't even realise that but tbh I don't like it because I find there are too many girls called it these days and god forbid the ones with accents on their name if you get it wrong 🤣🤣

AmericanAdventure · 02/06/2020 17:19

@whatacircus89 Why did Esme get an exclamation mark 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
The names I don't like are always associated with people I don't like and nothing to do with the name itself so it seems a bit mean posting them.

Elllicam · 02/06/2020 17:14

Grace (just don’t like the sound)
Mai (because I think it should be pronounced as My rather than May)
Charlene

Classiccar · 02/06/2020 17:08

Rachel

Alison

Jessica

Caroline

Elizabeth

All associated with unpleasant people. Yes, I know that’s more than 3.
Sorry Blush

To make it fair though, my name and DD’s has been mentioned by others!

wedding2021 · 02/06/2020 16:41

Evie, Eva, Lily, anything double barrelled with Mae or Rose. Very very common.

MrsR87 · 02/06/2020 16:23

I’m a teacher, so could come up with a list as long as a piece of string! I’m actually really struggling to settle on girls names I like! I won’t find out if I’m having a boy or a girl for another three weeks but we’ve been thinking about it.

The names I like are topping the polls for popular names at the moment, another member of the family already has named there child it or I think they are a little too out there! Ha ha

Tomorrowsanewday · 02/06/2020 16:22

Winifred
Agnes
Ethel
Elsie
Sorry that’s 4. I associate these names with Grannies.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 02/06/2020 16:20

Freya - Twee.
Olivia - Done to death and sounds wet
Florence - Fussy and too long.

Apologies to all who are named any of these / have used for their DDs. I’m sure plenty of people wouldn’t like my name or the ones I chose for my children either! Grin

CouscousEvaporator · 02/06/2020 16:20

Seraphina. I actually know one and she’s lovely but I don’t like the noise it makes as it comes out, particularly when yelled in a sporting capacity.

Hyphenated names.

Eve/Evie/Eva, but only because I know about a million...

Wolfgirrl · 02/06/2020 16:14

Ottilie - it is just so ugly and twee. Reminds me of slimy ponds and urine smells.

Posy - suitable only for 4 year old flower girls.

Names like Catherine/Elizabeth - so dull and vanilla

AdaColeman · 02/06/2020 16:07

Anything with a "Uneeke" spelling, K-lee, Soofee, etc.
Anything hyphenated Keely-Sue, Elli-Maey, Billy-Joe for instance.
I'm not keen on names that are surnames, or on diminutives being given instead of a full name.

Most nature or plant names, cute when the child is little, but often don't work well for adults, though there are exceptions that have stood the test of time such as Daisy or Fleur.

ElectricTonight · 02/06/2020 15:54

Bethany
Rebecca (Becky)
Jade

Scruffyoak · 02/06/2020 15:50

Amelia- don't like it
Isla- isla white.../wight
Eva ...like a teen misspelling of Ever

Mucklowe · 02/06/2020 15:46

Poppy - sounds like popping pills
Grace - nice meaning but ugly sound
Mia - not even a proper name - just a weak sort of noise

ButDoUAvocado · 02/06/2020 15:40

Alice- hate the sound of it
Daisy- cow
Willa- why, why would you want your baby to have a name spelt so similar to willy?

Mum2b2020 · 02/06/2020 14:32

Double barrelled first names, but especially anything with Mae tagged onto the end. I can almost understand May but Mae is an ugly spelling imo.

LotusClover · 02/06/2020 13:42

Clementine, Margot and Penelope are my three current least favourites.

Nelly/Nellie is my all time least favourite.

I also dislike old names coming back into fashion, e.g. Dorothy, Edith. However I quite like names such as Eva, Ava, Amelia, despite their popularity.

evilharpy · 02/06/2020 13:37

Nevaeh
Anything with a yooneek spelling
Anything beginning with G for no reason other than I just don't seem to like G names

JuneDays · 02/06/2020 13:37

I wouldn't choose:

  • Dolores : It means pain in Spanish. (And I know a few, and they are giant pains in the butt.)
  • Concepción : Conception, reference to the Virgin Mary .
  • Inmaculada : Immaculate. Another name that references the Virgin Mary.

There are names I am blanking on in Spanish where the names translatw to Anguish and another to suffering. Neither one would be my choice.

OneMoreLight · 02/06/2020 13:37

Olivia
Erica
Gabby
