Hi,
Basically I think I’ve decided on a name, Lottie. My only problem is that people have commented that it’s a nickname and not a ‘real name’ Ive come across the spelling Lotte which I feel looks fore like a ‘whole’ name, but my bf says it is pronounced differently. What do you think? How would you pronounce Lotte?

No one uses my full name, I’ve always been the shorter version. Honestly call her Charlotte and call her Lotte- your friend won’t tKe offence will she?!

Hattie is horrible Imo- old fashioned in an untrendy way

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/06/2020 21:20

Lott - uh

viques · 01/06/2020 21:16

If you don't want her to be Charlotte then what about Carlotta.

daisypond · 01/06/2020 21:07

Just call her Charlotte. Lottie for short. Lotte is more like Lott-uh. Lottie isn’t a real name to me, and neither is Hattie. Charlotte or Harriet is fine.

QuantamBaby · 01/06/2020 21:03

I would pronounce it Lott-uh which isn't as pretty as Lottie (IMHO)

I'd go for Charlotte and call her Lottie - your friend will be flattered :)

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 01/06/2020 21:02

I know a Lotte, and she pronounces it 'Lottie'.

Hattie and Lottie/Lotte are both great names.

FoolsAssassin · 01/06/2020 21:00

I would pronounce it Lott-uh.

InterestingIris · 01/06/2020 20:59

I would pronounce as Lot-ee still, but I think the spelling of Lottie is prettier than Lotte. You’d gets lots of ‘lot’ ‘lotta’ ‘loat’ type pronunciations with Lotte I think.

I like Lottie or Hattie...is Hattie for Harriet?

OwlBasket · 01/06/2020 20:58

Lottie, Lettie, Hetty and (to a lesser extent 👒) Hattie are all great.

amillionnamechangeslater000 · 01/06/2020 20:58

To be fair - your best friend will assume she’s named after her anyway! Grin Both are nice names.

Ninkanink · 01/06/2020 20:57

I like Charlotte/Lottie much better. I don’t think it’s a problem that your friend has the same name - she’ll likely be hugely flattered, and it’ll be different anyway if you call your little one Lottie from day one. It just allows her to use the full name at some stage if she prefers it.

OwlBasket · 01/06/2020 20:56

Leiselotte Nn Lottie (or Lotte if she wants less frills when she’s older)

ToothFairyNemesis · 01/06/2020 20:56

Hattie and Lottie are both lovely. I actually think it’s quite sweet though for your baby to have the same name as your best friend.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 01/06/2020 20:54

I’d go with Lot as a pronunciation.

Whatahoot99 · 01/06/2020 20:53

Ok thanks for the feedback so far.. my only other option is Hattie, which does everyone prefer? X

Squintybumcheek · 01/06/2020 20:51

I would pronounce it Lott-u

Susanna85 · 01/06/2020 20:51

Lotte to me would be lot

pinkpinecone · 01/06/2020 20:50

I'd think that's was a different name pronounced more like Lott-a

I don't see any issue with just using Lottie it's a nice name

LochJessMonster · 01/06/2020 20:49

I would just go with Lottie. It’s nice.

newtb · 01/06/2020 20:48

Not read all posts, but lotte is monkfish in French.

FatalSecrets · 01/06/2020 20:48

How about Carlotta with the diminutive Lottie?

Frlrlrubert · 01/06/2020 20:47

I'd probably guess at 'Lot'

Chocolateandcarbs · 01/06/2020 20:47

*I’d
