Humphrey?

I like the name but its a bit far out there for me!
NN could be Humph
Or Walter, Wilfred nn wilfie, Ralphie?

I think it's a great name but i'm not sure i could use it for a child!
I like your other 3 (Walter, Wilfred & Ralph) but not using "ie" as a nickname on them.

I hate all of them really.

Humphrey is something to call a stuffed elephant. And there are no good shortenings. Humph is awful.

Please don’t.

I like Humphrey. It's classic, not overused but well known.

I really don't like Walter or Wilfred.

I don't like Walter and I dislike Ralph.
Son of Boris puts me off Wilfred.

Humphrey is the name we have picked if bump is a boy. We love it.

I really like Walter. I think it has a bit of the dreaded "old man/grandpa" feel in the UK, but I see it used a lot more in non-English speaking European countries (although often pronounced VAUL-ter). It's the kind of name that's familiar and easy to spell/pronounce, works in a lot of languages, but not too common (at the moment).

Some other names that have that same kind of vibe to me are Adam, Alfred, August, Edgar, Hugh/Hugo, Martin, Tobias, Victor, Vincent.

Humphrey reminds me of Gossip Girl and also has a bit of a word-as-name feel (even though it's not): "Stop that humphrey immediately!" "This sort of humphrey is exactly what's wrong with contemporary journalism ..." But yes, I think that "hump" is the main obstacle.

How about Aubrey, or Geoffrey?

Humphrey is a great name for a teddy bear. I have two teenage sons though, and I can’t see it suiting either of them (one is edgy and cool, the other is quiet and sensitive).
I like traditional names that can be shortened - James/Jim, Edward/Ted/Ned, Charlie, Henry.
I prefer William to Wilfred or Walter.

I do like Bertie, prefer Albie however.

Sweet & cute are only good for babies & toddlers though. After that they go downhill rapidly.

I think Humphrey Appleby’s nickname was Humpy.

A college friend's car was called Humphrey because the first 3 reg letters were Hmp followed by 3 etc. So I think of an old banger but you wouldn't.
But it's an awful name to saddle someone with. There are much nicer names out there.

Humphrey! I think it's a brilliant name and I don't really know why other people don't love it too. If you like it, go for it.

Rupert is also dreadful.

Bertie is cute if he is Robert or Albert (not Cuthbert or Dilbert) so he has a name for when he's a grown up.

Humphrey is dire and Wilfred is not much better. Ralph is ok, just Ralph not Ralphie.

Don't like any of them- my DD is 9, she has a Humphrey in her year, his mum calls him Humpf, makes me cringe so bad!!! Why do that to a child?!
