Hi all,

Me and DH have mixed feelings about this girls name (he loves it and I keep changing my mind lol).

If you heard this name (pronounced; Kez-EE-ah) what would you think? Who would you expect to use it? Do you like how it sounds?

Don’t be afraid of being rude in any way! I want your gut reaction lol x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My daughters friends has that name, polite, loyal, confident young lady. Beautiful name, good choice, not very common

Devlesko · 31/05/2020 17:34

Elisheva

that would make sense, I don't know all the biblical names but know that 80% of Romany names are biblical.

Herja · 31/05/2020 17:33

The book by (I think Michael Morpurgo) called Kezzie - the central character has the same name.

I think it's a lovely name OP and would pronounce it as you do.

InglouriousBasterd · 31/05/2020 17:32

The Diddakoi! Loved that book!

helpmum2003 · 31/05/2020 17:32

I don't know any. My first thought was chavvy but not sure on reflection.

Devlesko · 31/05/2020 17:32

I'm Romany there's a couple in my family tree, but going quite far back.
It's a lovely name and we say Kez ee ah.

Elisheva · 31/05/2020 17:31

I know two Keziahs. one spells it Kezia. I would assume that you were a religious family. She was one of Job’s daughters - Jemima, Keziah and Keren.

FlashesOfRage · 31/05/2020 17:31

Thanks so far everyone Grin I really appreciate these varied responses!

@NannyR Maybe I’m just not very good at phonetics lol! In my mind kez-EE-ah was meant to equate to Kezzy-a x

@Moondust001 Grin yeah we wanted unusual (but with a history) without being totally crazy lol so no Keren-heppuch or Bethsheba sadly x

PipGirl404 · 31/05/2020 17:30

My best friend in school was called Kezziah. She was lovely.

Roselilly36 · 31/05/2020 17:30

I have only known one, and she was a lovely child, I like the name.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/05/2020 17:29

I’ve taught a Keziah. Pronounced Kezeeah. Lovely girl. I have fond memories of her.

clareykb · 31/05/2020 17:29

My daughter has a friend called it, her siblings all have old testament biblical names...I like it makes a change from Naomi or Ruth...

Veterinari · 31/05/2020 17:29

I'd pronounce it as Kee-zha
Romany travellers

@Chinesetakeawaay @Destroyedpeople
Why? the phonetics don't make that pronounciation
Do travellers tend to use traditional Hebrew names?

Beautiful strong traditional name. Underused

userabcname · 31/05/2020 17:28

I know one. She's very stroppy and rude so it makes me think of that unfortunately. I do like the name though!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 31/05/2020 17:28

I taught aa keziah about 10 years ago. Lovely girl who will now be a young adult.

IndiaMay · 31/05/2020 17:28

I'll be honest I would have thought it was a bit chavvy (and I have no idea why!) Until I met a cambridge educated senior corporate Partner at a law firm whose children all had very rah names, one of them being Keziah and I realised I had the total wrong end of the stick.

averythinline · 31/05/2020 17:27

It's quite hard looking/sounding I would think Kezzy ah ..
Also family old school religious/brethren type .... not keen

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/05/2020 17:27

Interesting to see it is an old Hebrew name because in our family tree there are a couple and siblings had names such as Issac and Issachar as well as William ,Mary Ann, Emma,Fanny etc. I suppose Old Testament names aren't in fashion here currently as well.

SamanthaS89 · 31/05/2020 17:26

We knew a Kezia growing up - Keh-zee-ah; I quite like it as a name. As the family were pretty well-off, into horses, slightly hippy, I've always associated it with that.

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 31/05/2020 17:26

Dugdale for me too.

I thought the emphasis was at the start, so KEZ-ee-ya

Lima45 · 31/05/2020 17:25

One of my 8 year old DDs best friends. Lovely Girl.
Pronounced the way you said it in your op

Moondust001 · 31/05/2020 17:24

And it seems I was half right! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keziah Having read that I decide I like it, but I'd avoid the third daughters name as it sounds a bit like a medical problem!

Marmite27 · 31/05/2020 17:23

It’s a biblical name I think. In a similar vein to Sarah and Rebecca.

whiteroseredrose · 31/05/2020 17:23

Kizzy which was a children's TV programme in the 1970s.

Choice4567 · 31/05/2020 17:22

I think of a girl called Keziah from a school I worked in. She was really lovely and I’ve always liked the name
