Hi all,

Me and DH have mixed feelings about this girls name (he loves it and I keep changing my mind lol).

If you heard this name (pronounced; Kez-EE-ah) what would you think? Who would you expect to use it? Do you like how it sounds?

Don’t be afraid of being rude in any way! I want your gut reaction lol x

I've known two ladies named Kezia.
Both pronounced the same way.
Kez-eye-ah
Stress is on the EYE bit.
Both utterly lovely.

Zisforstripyoss · 01/06/2020 16:37

A very lovely girl I went to school with. I'd never heard it before then and I've liked the name ever since.

cptartapp · 01/06/2020 16:25

One of the three kings that rode on camels to Bethlehem. It wasn't, but sounds like it belongs in that story.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 01/06/2020 16:14

I would assume that her parents were v religious.

planningaheadtoday · 01/06/2020 16:11

Romany gypsies

ITonyah · 01/06/2020 16:06

Romany traveller. I think because of Kizzy.

Carouselfish · 01/06/2020 16:04

First thought is loud and rude, it's the Kez starter of the name. And the fact it leaves the mouth open with the ah ending. Don't like it at all, despite it having classic credentials.

SJaneS48 · 01/06/2020 15:41

Not keen!

Ladsladslads · 01/06/2020 15:39

I've only met one, pronounced kez-eye-ah. She from a very devout family so an old biblical name fit I guess

Lordfrontpaw · 01/06/2020 15:05

Not a very well known one to be fair!

highmarkingsnowbile · 01/06/2020 14:30

It's a Biblical name, FFS.

Kokeshi123 · 01/06/2020 13:40

Kez-EYE-a.

It's quite American sounding to me, but in a wholesome-traditional-American way, not in a "Madison/Wyatt" type way. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was popular among African American families.

I really like it, but it will get pronounced all ways. If you are OK with that, go for it!

CuppaZa · 01/06/2020 04:54

Makes me think of a mythical goddess. I like it

Lynda07 · 01/06/2020 04:53

Keziah, the Detective Constable in The Bill lived in Sun Hill so she wasn't riding through the countryside in a long skirt with her hair flowing freely behind her. She may have done that in her spare time though.

Lynda07 · 01/06/2020 04:49

Detective Constable in The Bill.

Time40 · 01/06/2020 02:40

It makes me think of a beautiful wild free-spirited girl with black curly hair, a long skirt and bare feet who lives in the countryside and has a horse.

gumball37 · 01/06/2020 02:37

Just reading the title I thought "a girl's name"... So I'd say you're good. If likely need you to pronounce it, but if be good then. People always ask how to pronounce my name, so I don't see it as a big deal.

CMMum88 · 01/06/2020 02:17

Katherine Mansfield story character although that one is Kezia without the h.

Waves from SE13!

I absolutely loved that programme. It left such an impression on me. I used to rush home from school to see it.

My best friend from uni was actually called Keren Hapuc and even though Karen was a very popular name back then she still didn't have a lot of problems with it. She went by Hapuc always, no nicknames. I found it very unique and interesting, always loved it!

The H was silent in her name though as we were not from an English speaking place. So it was more like ah-POOK

Aclh13 · 01/06/2020 01:23

I'd see it as 'common' sorry but I knew two girls from the estates with that name, one lovely one a complete psycho

Lordfrontpaw · 31/05/2020 23:22

Was that one of the sugar babes?

Notso · 31/05/2020 23:17

There was one in a baby group I used to go to, the parents pronounced it like Kezzy-yeh.
Parents were PFB types and used to bring her breakfast of kippers and egg to every single session.
So unfortunately the name will ever be ingrained with a musty, eggy, fishy smell.

howlatthetrees · 31/05/2020 23:17

My friend from primary school, she was lovely

aleC4 · 31/05/2020 23:16

It reminds me of a lovely girl I once taught.
The children in the family all had biblical names.
They pronounced it Kez-eye-a though, with the emphasis on the middle syllable.
She was Kizzy for short.
