Expecting a girl shortly and have several similar names we like as well as a few others.
Hannah
Alana
Lana
Leah
Lena
Elena
Alina
Beth
Julia

My initial favourite is Lana but saw a post on here recently about how if spelt backwards ( by friends, cruel classmates etc) it’s not a name to give!

What are your thoughts on all these names ?

Hannah - dull, as a 1990s primary school child there were at least three girls in every class called this
Alana - quite like, always sounds quite “American” to me
Lana - meh
Leah - ok
Lena - like it
Elena - like it a lot
Alina - very unusual, prefer Elena
Beth - like it a lot
Julia - quite classic

Hannah- a bit dated for me! Quite 90s
Alana- ok
Lana- not keen
Leah- ok
Lena- not keen
Elena- nice
Alina- not my cup of tea but not bad!
Beth- I like it if short for Elizabeth or Bethany
Julia- dated!

Zisforstripyoss · 01/06/2020 16:39

I like Elena and Alina.

Have you thought of Eliana?

autumnkate · 01/06/2020 15:25

I teach a lovely 16 year old Alana and she is the only one I’ve ever met

DoctorBambino · 01/06/2020 11:42

Hannah - meh bit bland
Alana - love it
Lana - its ok
Leah - its ok
Lena - like it
Elena - dont like it
Alina - like it

Hanah - love it, a beautiful classic, I can imagine a Hannah at all ages. I also think the spelling Hana is pretty and my fit for your love of Lana

Alana - dislike

Lana - it's pretty. I know a Larna which would avoid your backward spelling. Lorna is also pretty

Leah - pretty, used to think it felt a bit dated to the 80s bit feels more refreshing now

Lena - not a fan

Elena - nice enough

Alina - not a fan

Beth I like as a nn for Bethan, Beth any, Bethel, Lizbeth, Elisabeth, Elsbeth

Julia - not a fan, feels dated

MikeUniformMike · 31/05/2020 13:38

ihatelockdown · 31/05/2020 07:08

Add an h onto Lana! So Lanah

funmummy48 · 31/05/2020 07:06

I like Hannah best. It’s not a name you hear very often.

daisypond · 31/05/2020 07:06

Julia is best. Hannah and Leah are nice. The others are a bit bland.

I like Hannah, Beth, Leah and Julia. Not keen on the others.

userabcname · 31/05/2020 06:37

Beth is lovely! I'd definitely go for that.

BikeRunSki · 31/05/2020 06:33

I like them all except Alana and Alina. I like Hannah and Leah the best.

CoffeeRunner · 31/05/2020 06:28

How are you pronouncing Elena? As Eleanor, El-ee-na or El-en-a? If pronounced El-en-a it’s really pretty. To me though if you pronounce it Eleanor it just looks as though you couldn’t spell Eleanor.

Of the other names on your list I like Hannah & Leah.

Phoebeboo · 31/05/2020 05:38

My favourite is Lena, followed by Beth and then Hannah.
