We liked Balthazar but when he arrived we realised it was a bit much for a tiny baby. It just seemed kind of ridiculous? And we didn't like any of the shortened versions, which people would be bound to use.

But I still like the name and would use it, if only babies didn't start off so tiny 😆

Solomon

Would love a Solomon myself 👍 Sol and Solly are great nicknames too x

IloveParmaViolets · 31/05/2020 22:59

Balthazar will be shortened to Balti and that's a common name in the Indian subcontinent for bucket. So I'd go for the more universal name Solomon.

Jayteedee · 31/05/2020 21:33

Solomon's gorgeous, and isnt Sol a cool nickname

sandracessica · 31/05/2020 21:25

BALF

EmbarrassedUser · 30/05/2020 16:53

Neither.

Kardashianasssss · 30/05/2020 16:25

Balthazar for sure!

Ellmau · 30/05/2020 15:42

Both are good names. I prefer the z spelling with Bathazar.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/05/2020 14:49

Solomon as I love the nn Solly/Sol :)

userabcname · 30/05/2020 14:49

Solomon.

LolaSmiles · 30/05/2020 14:49

Solomon is lovely

Lavenderblues · 30/05/2020 14:47

Both great names. I'd probably choose Solomon but Balthasar is pretty cool too.

SleepingStandingUp · 30/05/2020 14:46

We had Balthazar on our dream list along with Thaddeus but in the end decided it was a bit too onerous for a wc kid in the Midlands. I think if we were a bit more upper class we'd have gone with it.

Solomon is OK, I prefer Balthazar nn Zar

Grufallosfriends · 30/05/2020 14:43

Like them both, but prefer Balthasar. Cool and classic and memorable!

IVflytrap · 30/05/2020 14:16

Solomon - I love it.

MrsMop1964 · 30/05/2020 14:13

Balthazar makes me think of the three kings in the Christmas story. I don't hate it but it depends on your child's surname and your social circle. Solomon has more universal appeal, I feel.

Cheers Chelsea cat

I like them both - sorry, realise that’s not helpful!

Elieza · 30/05/2020 14:03

Do either of them mean something special to you or are you just seeking an unusual name?

123Dancewithme · 30/05/2020 13:55

I prefer the Balthazar spelling.

Worriedaboutthefuture1 · 30/05/2020 13:37

I really like Balthazar - it makes me think of Balthazar Getty (90’s actor - remember him?)

YourVagesty · 30/05/2020 13:35

These are two of my favourite names of all time. Balthasar just edges it for me.

Lilybea1995 · 30/05/2020 13:23

Balthazar is so cool. I really dislike Solomon I always think of salmon
