Any opinions on Forrest?

Thanks for opinions. Would be for a boy yes. DH doesn't like it but I'm quite keen. I do get the Forrest Gump reference but hope by the time they're older it wouldn't be as widely known in their generation. Forest is nice Smile outdoorsy names appeal to me a lot

I know one and I like it

skinnyhotchoc · 28/05/2020 22:56

No because of Forrest Gump

BeMorePacific · 28/05/2020 22:53

@doughnutmuffin me too. It’s a cool name. Once he goes to school his friends won’t have seen Forest Gump... even if they have, it’s a fantastic film with a brilliant lead character. x

Tillygetsit · 28/05/2020 22:44

I have ties to Nottingham so it makes me think football.

whatausername · 28/05/2020 22:02

Gump. And I haven't seen the film. I simply know the catchphrases because it was huge (I think possibly before my time a little too).

doughnutmuffin · 28/05/2020 21:38

I thought of the actor Forest Whitaker, I like it

ChequerBoard · 28/05/2020 21:35

'Run Forrest Run'

Don't do it.:

Blursula · 28/05/2020 21:32

Forest looks much nicer. Forrest to me is a surname. I quite like it.

I don’t think the film matters - will be of a completely different generation

blancheduboiss · 28/05/2020 21:27

Also prefer Forest

Skige · 28/05/2020 21:24

I love it but probably not brave enough to use it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/05/2020 21:23

I was also thinking Forest is nicer

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/05/2020 21:23

There's nothing wrong with the name as such...

But even though the film is old its well known and full of catchphrases

The teasing and comments would be lifelong

Whatsyourflava · 28/05/2020 21:20

I like it

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2020 21:18

Just musing, would it be better spelled Forest? It would distinguish it from Forrest which is usually a surname, and gives it more of a naturey, outdoorsy feel.

sweetnosugar · 28/05/2020 21:14

I weirdly like it! Probably wouldn’t be brave enough to use it however.
For a boy I assume?

MrsMop1964 · 28/05/2020 21:14

I instantly thought of Forrest Gump. I love the film but wonder if the child might get silly comments like 'Run, Forrest, Run..' which might be a bit wearing. (Mind you, maybe children won't know the film given how long ago it was.)
I don't think it's a bad name without that association.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/05/2020 21:11

Gump. But quite like it.

Diverseduvet · 28/05/2020 21:10

I wouldn't

DartmoorChef · 28/05/2020 21:10

Gump
