Hi,
Really intrigued to know your favourite and least liked of our shortlist.....
Magnus (Gus)
Rupert (Ru)
Edward (Ned)
Barnaby (Boo)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TempsPerdu · 28/05/2020 22:32

Favourite - definitely Magnus, brilliant name. Least favourite is Rupert - sorry but can’t get beyond ‘posh idiot’ with this one! Edward and Barnaby both fine but not keen on the nicknames - Boo In particular is dreadful.

TrickyKid · 28/05/2020 22:32

Love all of the names...
Edward
Rupert
Magnus
Barnaby (but not Boo)

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 28/05/2020 22:30

haha @twooter nearly said same

Twooter · 28/05/2020 22:28

Not Ned if you live in Scotland

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 28/05/2020 22:25

Can't go wrong with Edward (nn Eddie or Ted, - Ned is a trustafarian tryhard,)

The rest are all ok - though Gus just isn't a nn for Magnus

Helloagain20 · 28/05/2020 22:23

Favorite Edward least favourite magnus.

Ragwort · 28/05/2020 22:23

Edward is a lovely name.

Boo sounds ridiculous.

Aber9 · 28/05/2020 22:21

Love the full names, not so much the nicknames

EngagedAgain · 28/05/2020 22:17

Out of the names I say Edward.

EngagedAgain · 28/05/2020 22:16

Agree with pp, Bridge. A common theme with names now seems to be deciding on a nickname over and above the name. A nickname used to be something that developed naturally.

user1493494961 · 28/05/2020 21:58

Barnaby or Edward but Boo is awful, he wouldn't thank you. Dislike Rupert.

Aclh13 · 28/05/2020 21:51

Magnus (Gus) yes nice strong and nickname is nice too.
Rupert (Ru) no. Equally least favourite
Edward (Ned) nice but not the nickname
Barnaby (Boo) no. Least favourite.

Daisylookslost · 28/05/2020 21:05

I like Magnus it’s such a strong name and Gus is actually a nice nickname!

Boo as nn for Barnaby is (too?) cute and might come across a bit girly as previously suggested, especially as he grows up.

Whatsyourflava · 28/05/2020 20:54

Meant to add - I ADORE Barnaby by the way and wish I could use it

Whatsyourflava · 28/05/2020 20:54

Favourite is Barnaby
Like all your names but least favourite is probably Rupert, as earlier poster said the abundance of similar R names in the top 100 sort of blends in with all of them and isn't very special sounding. Even though Edward is more common it feels more special to me as it doesn't blend with other names so much.

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2020 20:50

Magnus is my favourite, then Edward.

I don't like Barnaby much - he'll outgrow Boo as a nn in about 6 months, btw.

Really dislike Rupert.

Blursula · 28/05/2020 20:48

Fave by a mile is Magnus, although I don’t like Gus.

Then Barnaby, but Boo is awful - Barney much better!

Then Edward nn Ned (but prefer Ted)

Not keen on Rupert

Skige · 28/05/2020 20:46

Rupert is terrible.

Love Edward but prefer Ed or Eddie over Ned.

Magnus is great but Boo is silly.

Barnaby is nice and I do know an older (mid 40's with the name) but I do confess I snigger inside a bit when I have to says it.. its a bit, well wet!

verybritishproblems · 28/05/2020 20:42

Fave: Barnaby
Least fave: Magnus

MikeUniformMike · 28/05/2020 20:40

I think that Barnaby is probably the least likely to be one of many.
Magnus is probably more popular than you'd expect.
Rupert is yet another R name and will blend in with the Reuben, Rowan, Roman, Rufus names.
Ted is overused.

OP, pick the name you like that sounds best with the surname

Sk1nnyB1tch · 28/05/2020 20:40

Edward
Barnaby
Magnus
Rupert
In that order.

IncrediblySadToo · 28/05/2020 20:34

Magnus (Gus) Like Gus. Not Magnus but ok for BC
Rupert (Ru) - neither (where's Pooh Bear)
Edward (Ned) - Ted not Ned
Barnaby (Boo)- not Boo, consider Barn'y nn

Bluntness100 · 28/05/2020 20:33

I think they are all ok, but the nicknames are not good. No kid wants to be called boo, gus, ru or Ned.

rottiemum88 · 28/05/2020 20:31

Love all the names, possibly Magnus as a favourite. Detest all the nicknames

MintyMurray17 · 28/05/2020 20:28

Favourite Magnus, least favourite Rupert
