Our Baby Girls Name...

kahronah · 27/05/2020 08:19

Well, my boys list got many rude comments that are hurtful but I thank those who were kind and helpful.
This is our girls list, it is a lot harder for us to narrow down because neither of us can agree on one we both like.

My list:
Ivorie, Emmie, Ezmae, Maezie, Darsie, Rozie and Mollie, he hates Mollie though even though it's my fav. :(

Hubby's list:
Leighyah, Amilliyah, Addelleigh, Maeleigh and Quinleigh

I will probably have to choose one of his picks. I wish he liked Maelie or Addellie but he don't.
Anyway if you have to choose which do you like the most? Xxo

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thenamesarealltaken · 27/05/2020 13:14

I like a lot of the names you've both listed, but I don't like the spellings. As long as you teach your daughter to be relaxed about it when people spell her name wrong, ok.
I'd say the names several times, use them in sentences as if they're toddlers, teens, grownups...

I like Amelia and Leah most from your list, but with the regular spellings.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 27/05/2020 13:13

Your partner's list has some really odd spellings. Can't you compromise and use his name with better spellings?
You have to love the name op.

SoftBlocks · 27/05/2020 13:08

I would go with the conventional spellings it’s going to be a nightmare for her correcting all the time.

kahronah · 27/05/2020 13:06

@Cosmos45 Okay yes joke over I'm so sorry. You can go now bye.

Seriously if you're not going to be kind leave.

OP posts:
kahronah · 27/05/2020 13:03

@Monstamio Oh, I thought was meant as in my pregnancy was half term or something. Well no I'm not on half term nor a teenager and I was not joking.

Cosmos45 · 27/05/2020 13:00

@kahronah you've had the joke (it was a bad one), now I suggest you go back to playing fortnite or whatever it is you kids do. No one would seriously call their childrens names this, you know this, I know this. You have posted to deliberately wind people up and are obviously chucking about how "witty" you are.

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 27/05/2020 13:00

How about:

Whatleigh
Fuckingleigh
Planetleigh
Areleigh
Youleigh
Onleigh
?leigh

Bamaluz · 27/05/2020 12:53

I'm sorry, that was unkind.
They do look silly though.

Monstamio · 27/05/2020 12:52

What are you meaning by half term...

Bored teenagers come on this site every school holidays with made up nonsense. Some threads (unlike this one) are actually quite creative and mildly diverting. All are bollocks, however.

littlemeitslyn · 27/05/2020 12:50

Hubbys list is horrible

Bamaluz · 27/05/2020 12:49

The spellings make you look thick tbh

herecomesgeralt · 27/05/2020 12:34

@FluffMagnet your spelling is very popular round here!

kahronah · 27/05/2020 12:30

@NotNowPlzz Thankyou. Xxo

OP posts:
kahronah · 27/05/2020 12:30

Well I think I'll show my dh this and hopefully he will go for Emmie lol.

I get many of you don't like these names but why must you be so horrible. My family is excited and happy for baby and that's what is most important I don't deserve to be told my kids should be taken away.

OP posts:
NotNowPlzz · 27/05/2020 12:28

I love Ivorie, and with that spelling.

kahronah · 27/05/2020 12:25

@Elizabella Name isn't hyphenated. Jayne or Mae would be middle names.

OP posts:
kahronah · 27/05/2020 12:24

@Cosmos45 Ah? Because you don't like the names my children should be taken away? What are you meaning by half term...

OP posts:
LittleLeaps · 27/05/2020 12:24

Welsh and Irish names tend to look very pretty on paper and sound lovely too - Elin, Aoife and Niamh are all beautiful names. Perhaps that could be a consideration?

LittleLeaps · 27/05/2020 12:20

I knew a dog called Maezie (was supposed to be Maisie) because the person who had her name tag made genuinely struggled with reading and spelling. The poor dog got laughed at when people read her name tag - imagine the response to a child! I say this as someone who has a child with a very unusual name but spelt correctly - please think about the implications of very obscure spellings.

badg3r · 27/05/2020 12:11

Gosh your DH sounds like a bit of a bully 😬
Is this your first? I ask because I wonder if he has seen you give birth before. If he hasn't, I reckon that just after the birth is the perfect time to tell him to sod off with his name choices and that you will be picking! Will the baby also have his surname?

With regards to the unique spellings, I am not a fan and would personally not like to have a name spelled in a complicated way myself. But each to their own. I would just make sure that you don't also change how people pronounce it, Darsie reads more like darzy than darcy to me and rozie looks like roh- zee.

Bobbiepin · 27/05/2020 12:08

Oh this isn't real surely?

formerbabe · 27/05/2020 12:04

Di mond is nice

Cosmos45 · 27/05/2020 11:35

It's half term and the OP is a new user as from yesterday. I can't believe anyone would be really that stupid, thick and uneducated to name a child some of these ridiculous names. Social services need to get involved if that is the case (there should be a law against twats doing this to children). I am assuming this is a wind up.

Mwnci123 · 27/05/2020 11:33

I would say that Emmie is the least bad.

Elizabella · 27/05/2020 11:32

@majesticallyawkward

* Well, I have decided to decide between Addelleigh or Maeleigh.

Addelleigh Mae nickname Addie
or
Maeleigh Jayne nickname Mae*

Is Maeleigh pronounced May Lee or Mylee? Either way it's a bit... meh. Mae is so common she would be one of a lot of Maes her whole life. Addie and variants are also pretty popular, if you don't want a common name there are lots of lovely (correctly spelled) ones about.

My DH told me to use this test when naming our kids (which was a joint decision, not him dictating): imagine yourself shouting it down the street, how does it sound? Then imagine them as an adult introducing themselves at an interview, does it work?
That's why we don't have a moya or Titus.

Rather than Maeleigh-Jayne, I suggest it be Jayne-Maeleigh with the nickname 'Jayne-Mael' as the child will be trapped within an iron band of class expectations and ridicule for life!
