Our Baby Girls Name...

Well, my boys list got many rude comments that are hurtful but I thank those who were kind and helpful.
This is our girls list, it is a lot harder for us to narrow down because neither of us can agree on one we both like.

My list:
Ivorie, Emmie, Ezmae, Maezie, Darsie, Rozie and Mollie, he hates Mollie though even though it's my fav. :(

Hubby's list:
Leighyah, Amilliyah, Addelleigh, Maeleigh and Quinleigh

I will probably have to choose one of his picks. I wish he liked Maelie or Addellie but he don't.
Anyway if you have to choose which do you like the most? Xxo

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SneakersandSocks · 27/05/2020 21:10

Sorry OP, I know there is major name snobbery on MN but I’m going to have to agree with a lot of the posters on here, the spellings of a lot of these otherwise lovely names are strange and they don’t read well.
I think Emmie is the best though. It’s a cute name.

rosegoldwatcher · 27/05/2020 21:02

@NotNowPlzz - I don't think so.

Some posters have been adding to the general weird spellings - because they believe this to be a spoof thread.
Others have expressed their dismay - based on experience - at the likelihood of future confusion and irritation for the child, lumbered with a normal name spelled wrongly.
No one here is saying, "For goodness sake don't call your child Prosecco!"

LilyMarshall · 27/05/2020 20:55

so you would kind of loose your impact. Then when I saw the spelling I'd just think you were thick.

You need to check your spelling before you call people thick. Your trousers will be LOOSE if you LOSE your belt.

NotNowPlzz · 27/05/2020 20:41

Typical fucking Mumsnet. Unless you name your child Emma or James you're some kind of uneducated deviant who deserves to be socially shamed. People think they're funny with rude comments. It's not funny, it's nasty.

IndiaMay · 27/05/2020 18:35

Tbh if you told me your childs name was "Amelia" without specifying the spelling I'd think you were incredibly dull and couldnt be bothered to think of a name as literally every other child atm the moment is called that, so you would kind of loose your impact. Then when I saw the spelling I'd just think you were thick.

Huns2Getha4Eva · 27/05/2020 18:04

I like emilia nn Emmy but its better spelt Emmyleighya. Congrats on ur pregnancy btw. xx

tenlittlecygnets · 27/05/2020 18:01

Please don't burden your poor dc with a name that everybody will spell wrong and will laugh at behind your back. Please.

IncrediblySadToo · 27/05/2020 17:51

@Elizabella

I stand by Zur-Koniyya'a for first choice girl's name possibly with Jewel-Leigh for a middle?
Great ideas & so in keeping with the OP's list
Butterflytown · 27/05/2020 17:46

How about Emilia shortened to Emmie ( or Emmy)? That way you get a name from your list, he gets a name from his list ( Amilliyah is pronounced pretty much the same as Emilia), and your daughter gets a name with a normal spelling. Wins all round!

Nonnymum · 27/05/2020 17:25

Sorry but apart from Mollie I find the spellings confusing so don't know how they would be pronounced.

littlemeitslyn · 27/05/2020 17:21

Sock yarn😹

123Dancewithme · 27/05/2020 14:39

Pretty sure this is a joke thread!

skinnyhotchoc · 27/05/2020 14:21

Agree about your spellings. Just looks try hard. I would pick Esme from your list but spell it normally. Molly is god awful

peperethecat · 27/05/2020 14:09

@Soubriquet I'd have changed the whole thing, not just the spelling. Crystal is enough of a stripper name even if you spell it correctly.

sestras · 27/05/2020 14:00

The names are lovely but Spell them properly or they will be forever correcting themselves on the phone as they get older.

herecomesgeralt · 27/05/2020 14:00

@Awwlookatmybabyspider some of have parents who did it and know first hand what it's like to live with it.

OP isn't the one who is going to have to live with it, her kid is!

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 27/05/2020 13:59

I used to work with someone who had changed her name from the "unique" spelling her parents had saddled her with to the traditional spelling. She was temping at our office while waiting for the go ahead to move overseas so she could married her fiancé - the deed pole kept delaying the process. She hated the awful "creative" spelling she'd been given and felt if reflected badly on her (even though it obviously wasn't her choice).

Visibility in the digital age - you might think that giving a child a unique name/spelling which make them standout it does but it also means they can't "hide". Google Katie Smith and it's impossible to identify an individual among the results without further information but make her Keighty Smyff and suddenly she would become highly identifiable which is OK in some circumstances but now try and avoid a stalker, or move on from a teenage moment of stupidity that gets into the press or cover up the fact that you were sacked from a previous job or distance yourself from some questionable social media posts.

But I suspect that the poster is actually running off to another chat site and bleating either "nasty Mumsnet posters were horrible about my baby names (without saying what they were)" or "ha ha they are so stupid on Mumsnet I made them believe that I was going to call my baby Bearleighlittereight."

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/05/2020 13:49

Why would people get so sound up about how a total stranger spells their child's name. Confused.

Soubriquet · 27/05/2020 13:36

Why are your dh’s spellings so bloody ridiculous?!!

No kid wants a name they have to spell out!

In fact I just read a story about a woman who was disowned from her family because she changed her name

Her parents gave her Qur'stylle

Guess what it is? Crystal Hmm

redwoodmazza · 27/05/2020 13:33

Sorry OP, but the spellings are awful.

Tootletum · 27/05/2020 13:30

Is this a joke?

PeppaisaBitch · 27/05/2020 13:28

Why do you hate your child?!?

AdelaideK · 27/05/2020 13:27

You must be really bored.

Sleepyquest · 27/05/2020 13:23

You're ridiculous.

Worriedaboutthefuture1 · 27/05/2020 13:22

For a girl you definitely need to consider
Aikensolzlwmheufhcialmnfialmdwbhkofnebidhskb

Again pronounced as it’s spelt. It’s really feminine
