Our Baby Girls Name...

Well, my boys list got many rude comments that are hurtful but I thank those who were kind and helpful.
This is our girls list, it is a lot harder for us to narrow down because neither of us can agree on one we both like.

My list:
Ivorie, Emmie, Ezmae, Maezie, Darsie, Rozie and Mollie, he hates Mollie though even though it's my fav. :(

Hubby's list:
Leighyah, Amilliyah, Addelleigh, Maeleigh and Quinleigh

I will probably have to choose one of his picks. I wish he liked Maelie or Addellie but he don't.
Anyway if you have to choose which do you like the most? Xxo

Jorja is a valid foreign spelling of Georgia. You're not smart and funny and witty, you're ignorant and xenophobic. If you want to make fun of people over names, which I think is rather pathetic and tasteless, then at least make sure you have your facts right.

Jojaleigh is so not unique.

Jawjar-Lei is much better and looks much more original. Plus, it's hyphenated, which is well posh.

I agree with other posters. You are setting your child up for a lifetime of always having to spell out her name. Does your dh have to spell out his name like this, or did his parents spare him this burden?
Add to this an unusual surname and what a lifetime of not your dd will have.

Would the French name Maelys appeal to you OP? You both seem to like names starting with M, or vowels.

Mabel
Madelena
Mila

Or Iliana? - Greek version of Helena
Or Isadora?

From your list the only name I recognise is Mollie, or Emmie (as a nickname for Emmeline/Emma/Emily).

Your husband has gone a bit too far making the spellings unique.
Changing the spelling of a word like using a z instead of an s for example changes the way the word is pronounced so they would actually be spelled one way and pronounced another.
Mollie is the nicest :)

@Zaphodsotherhead True. One of mine has a very long and unusual name (which is derided on MN as "posh"). For some now unknown reason going back to early childhood, she is universally known as Scrubble.

I don’t want to sound atall horrible and I like some of your names but think about the child and adult that has to constantly spell his or her name out and always correct it because it’s spelt wrong. Your names are nice names why make up your own spelling it’s going to make it really a pain for him or her

I prefer shorter name personally as I have a long first name and I feel it can be difficult at times writing it out, especially since I don’t have a nick name I use, so it is always my full name.

I also thing there is a lot of advantages in having a name that is easy to spell, less spelling errors, typing errors, correcting others when they mis -spell it etc

In the end...it doesn't matter.

Your child, with your carefully hand-crafted name will instantly be given a nick name that you probably won't be able to stand, but will travel with them certainly through school, maybe through work and even through life.

My youngest DD has a name that abbreviates naturally to Addie. She's called Libby (can't even remember why now).

I was at college with a guy called Hedge-Digger (nn, not real name). Not sure I ever knew his real name.

Life evens out. Call your child whatever you like. You, and formal events, are the only time that name will ever be used.

Typical fucking Mumsnet. Unless you name your child Emma or James you're some kind of uneducated deviant who deserves to be socially shamed.

There are names which just aren't to everyone's taste and there are names which are downright cruel. These are the latter. It is a nasty thing to saddle a child with a name spelt in a totally way (and these are ridiculous rather than simply "creative" - I mean "Amilliyah" FFS!)

I include Elon Musk in this too and I don't think he is an uneducated defiant is he?

I tend to agree with others, OP. Lots of lovely names but very odd bloody awful spellings . Your kid will spend a lifetime correcting everyone who tries to spell her name. Can't you just go with a traditional spelling of one of these.

Darcy is my favourite....
